Designed by Cesare Paciotti, this Charcoal Silk Tasseled Envelope Clutch is bigger than I expected at just over a foot long (13" x 9 1/2") and combines the subtlety of a charcoal silk satin exterior with the pop of a bright red silk satin lining. Closes via a concealed magnet and has a single interior zip pocket, plus the 10+ inch tassel attaches with a silver clip and is removable. $274.95

Micol Metallic Envelope Clutch, Handbag of the Day

I like the idea of an envelope clutch, and at first this one appealed to me, but the more I look at it the uglier I think it is. It's the Micol Metallic Envelope Clutch by D&G and it's pretty much exactly what it sounds like -- a large leather envelope. It zips closed instead of folds over like a typical envelope, and from the pictures it looks like that ends up being a a little awkward. It has a leather pull with an attached silver padlock on the front, a contrast panel and dangling key bell on the back, and (perhaps the best part for me) the interior is lined in a pretty shade of pink silk. $695

This appropriately named bag looks like something I would like to get in the mail. Soft silver velvet folds into a sleek envelope that is just perfect for a special evening out. The gray stitching adds a little texture without distracting from the clean lines and the three silver beads add just a touch of sparkle. Inside, the bag is lined in gray suede and features a gold numbered edition plaque. $660.
