Terry Venables Drops the Price On His U.K. Home

Former soccer player Terry Venables has been trying to sell this one for a while. We first learned from Homes & Property UK that Venables had put the six-story home in Chelsea on the market earlier this year but now the English real estate website is reporting a major price drop.

Venables, who is developing a resort in Spain, paid £3.7 million for the Cheyne Walk building overlooking the Thames and Albert Bridge in Chelsea several years ago. He spent an estimated £2 million converting it from a six-flat building into a family home.

The Georgian townhouse has a large rear garden and a six-person elevator. The home includes seven bedrooms, a drawing room, kitchen, formal dining room and a light-filled breakfast room. It was on the market for £14.5 million but is now listed for £12.75 million.

Today's English home is a Georgian mansion house with adjoining mews house in the Marylebone area of London. The Grade II listed property is one of the few in the area with an adjoining mews house which gives it plenty of space including two garden areas. The main house, while having traditional bones-- high ceilings, large windows and plenty of fireplaces-- has been given a very modern makeover that includes new floors, new bathrooms and a sophisticated decor. The eight-bedroom home also has a swimming pool, home theater, roof terrace and private parking. It is listed at £13,000,000.

Today seems like a nice day for a jaunt to the English countryside. Longdown Cottage is located on over an acre within easy access fo the Guildford town center in Surrey. The cottage has six bedrooms and is in a lovely secluded setting that includes wildflower meadows,a tennis court, garden shed and a pool. Homes and Property UK reports that Chelsea & Fulham's Green candidate and writer Julia Stephenson inherited the property. Her late mother (meat heiress Rosamund Vestey) bought the home in 1962 and the area has barely changed since then. The property is listed at £2.5 million.

Today's estate is the weekend home of fashionable Brit designer Jasper Conran. Flemings Hall is a moated manor house in the area of Suffolk, England. The home is on six acres in the Bedingfield area. The home dates from the 13th century but has modern details such as an indoor heated pool. Conran spent wads of cash modernizing the home without destroying its intrinsic character. The home also has gorgeous English gardens including a one acre kitchen garden to feed everyone who visits and a cutting garden full of flowers. The home has nine bedrooms and has hosted some swanky parties so it is good for entertaining. And what's an old English home without a ghost? This one is reputed to have a few of those too.
