Emporio Armani x Reebok EA7

Emporio Armani x Reebok EA7
What happens when the Armani aesthetic comes to a sneaker? Emporio Armani EA7 and Reebok have created the EA7/Reebok ZigTech line. The Zig-Tech line is Reebok's line of shoes with distinctive zig-zag soles and this latest iteration is a continuation of the Armani/Reebok partnership which includes activewear and shoes. The whole line has a bit of a sci-fi-meets-sportwear aesthetic. Shown above is the rather architectural ZigLace shoe. The Reebok ZigPump which comes in silver with glossy patent inserts has midfoot strap to keep the foot in place and the classic Reebok pump mechanism.

Rafael Nadal To Strip Down For Armani

rafael nadalEver want to see tennis champ Rafael Nadal in his skivvies? Be patient, your chance is coming. Nadal will step into the Armani briefs amply filled most recently by soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo's. The Spanish player is the next face (and body) of Emporio Armani underwear and Armani Jeans. It's the first time in a while that a tennis player has been chosen. Soccer has ruled lately with first David Beckham, whose sexy billboards caused heads to turn. Shown at right is Nadal shirtless back in November. We have to wonder if a chest wax and a spray tan is in his future.

Emporio Armani Creates Made In California Jeans

We've reached a point yet again where items that aren't shipped in from China or elsewhere have a new appeal for the consumer. Emporio Armani's going made in the USA for a new line of jeans. The Spring/Summer 2010 collection will include "Made in California" jeans that are at least partially made in Los Angeles. The LA Times reports that there will be four styles of jeans ( two for men and two for women) with red, white and blue leather labels, brushed white enamel rivets, and special hangtags. The jeans sell for $195 and ar available at Emporio Armani stores but not online. Come February, the men's styles will also be at Saks Fifth Avene and Bloomingdale's.

The Fashion Statement: For Sex or Abstinence?

Designers are in the midst of a heated argument at Milan fashion week-whether one should dress for sex or dress for abstinence in a global recession. Seems a fitting debate in a country where the famously womanizing Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and Pope Benedict XVI are its two most powerful leaders

On the celibate team sits Miuccia Prada, who practices restraint on a regular basis (well, by Italian standards). She further reigned in her collection (well, by Prada standards) to include charcoal knee-length walking shorts, Fifties-style swimwear and demure day dresses. The ever quirky Marni showed knee-length shorts and paired them with thick-strapped shoes with thick soles worn with beige ankle socks (I can hear my boyfriend's protests now). Roberto Cavalli went AWOL from his I'm-too-sexy position in the marketplace, putting out modest peasant dresses with hems stopping mid-calf.

Then again, sex sells. Versace stayed true to form. Sex, sex and more sex with Donatella's brand of cigarettes afterward, thank you. Slits cut up to there. Necklines cut down to there. Cut-outs revealing erogenous zones. Towering stilettos. Short, short, short. (Definitely more my boyfriend's speed, I'm guessing.)

Josh Hartnett is Armani's Latest Face

His appeal is rather lost on me but scruffy young actor Josh Hartnett has been chosen as the face of Emporio Armani Diamonds for Men, the latest men's fragrance by Giorgio Armani. The new scent will be unveiled in June during the Spring Summer 2009 Men's Fashion Week in Milan and will be on sale worldwide starting in August. Armani is quoted as saying that Hartnett has "a charm and charisma that is magnetic. His individuality, allure and nonchalant way of being are all qualities which inspired me in the creation of this new fragrance." The face for the female version of Emporio Armani Diamonds is Beyonce Knowles.

Emporio Armani Roller Skates

Do people even use roller skates anymore? I thought they had pretty much gone the way of the dinosaurs, but obviously I'm wrong as there is apparently quite a market not only for roller skates but for high-end roller skates. The Skorpion Quadline Roller Skate available from Emporio Armani features sleek looks (of course) and is adjustable to fit most any shoe size, plus of course it has all the fancy gear necessary for a smooth ride and responsive braking. They're only available in the one color scheme though (black) so you'll probably either love them or hate them. $425
