Demi Moore Flies to Sundance in Style with JetSuite

Back in 2008 my colleague Deirdre Woollard first reported on the plans for JetSuite, a new private aviation company from the founders of JetBlue. Now the company has gotten off the ground in high style with help from the likes of Demi Moore, who just took a JetSuite flight to the Sundance Film Festival. JetSuite's fleet of 4-seat Embraer Phenom 100 jets are the best, most fuel-efficient aircraft in their class with speeds up to 450 miles per hour, an operating altitude of up to 41,000 ft, a stylish interior cabin designed by BMW and the largest baggage compartment in its category. The company provides service to major cities (AKA "SuiteSpots") throughout the Western United States, Canada and Mexico. They aim to make the luxury of flying private more accessible and affordable with prices starting at just $999 for a one-way flight – for the whole plane. Moore, who has flown JetSuite before, has praised its ease, convenience and privacy. "She loves that she can depart whenever she wants, not have to deal with long security lines, and leave her shoes, belts, and jewelry on," an insider tells us.

BMW Outfits Embraer Phenom Executive Jet

Looking for a fresh take on the cabins of their executive jets, Brazilian aerospace concern Embraer has teamed up with the designers at BMW to outfit their latest series. Executed on the Phenom 100 and Phenom 300, BMW DesignWorks USA brought a new perspective to the aircraft industry, giving the Embraers the Bavarian treatment with unique color schemes, high-quality materials and clever storage solutions on-board.

So far Embraer has delivered 100 jets so equipped, and has orders on the books for another 600, so don't be surprised if you see one of these taxiing the runway at the local air strip.

$29.5 Million Legacy 650 Jet Ready for Takeoff

For $29.5 million Brazilian executive jet builder Embraer will deliver a brand new Legacy 650 (above) to you by the end of the year. An amped-up version of the popular Legacy 600, the sleek craft can fly up to 3,900 nautical miles nonstop with four passengers, or 3,800 nautical miles with eight passengers – over 500 nautical miles farther than the 600 – thanks to new highly efficient and more powerful Rolls-Royce AE 3007A2 engines. That means the 650 can take you from London to New York, Dubai to London, Miami to São Paulo, Singapore to Sydney or Mumbai to central Europe in one go. The interior features three distinct cabin zones and a spacious galley, as well as the largest inflight accessible baggage compartment of any executive jet, and can of course be customized to your specifications, whether you want leather recliners or a zebra skin waterbed.

FlairJet Plans British Air Taxi Service

Some say that the air taxi era might be dead before it even really gets off the ground but that hasn't stopped the rise of new air taxi businesses. The latest is British air-taxi operator startup FlairJet which plans to start flying next May with a pair of Embraer Phenom 100s. They will lease the very light jets from an Embraer customer in Europe that has 10 Phenom 100s and have ordered one Phenom 100, as well as an option for another but won't get this airplane in 2012. If business expands before then though they can lease further Phenom 100s beginning in 2010. The service will be based at Oxford Airport in southern England and will serve customers in the surrounding counties.

JetBird To Take Flight in 2009

The much-vaunted private jet revolution has been slow to launch but it does seem to be getting underway with the growth of more and more private jet companies gearing up for major business over the next few years. JetBird is a company in Europe that will launch in 2009 when the company recieves its first jet. JetBird is creating a fleet of 100 Embraer Phenom 100 jets and aspires to offer low fare private airline travel. The service will start in Zurich, Switzerland and expand throughout Europe.
