Edox Ladies Royal Lady Luxury Chronograph Watch

There is no coincidence that this Edox watch sounds as though it was named after a boat. The "Royal Lady Luxury" is meat to be a yacht themed ladies piece from the Swiss brand that comes with a relatively affordable price. The Royal Lady Luxury Chronograph watch is 36mm wide in steel with blue segments in the bezel and a mother of pearl dial. The look is stately and bold. Attractive, but not in too girly a manner.

Inside the watch is a Swiss Ronda quartz chronograph movement. I like the steel outlined chronograph subdials on the face against the mother of pearl. The case is attached to a white rubber strap and retails for $2,100.

Edox Grand Ocean Ultra Slim Watch

Edox Grand Ocean Ultra Slim Watch
Edox used their Grand Ocean watch case as a start for an ultra thin timepiece. The result is an appropriately named "Grand Ocean Ultra Slim" timepiece that is just 6.2mm thick. Very thin! The secret is that it has a Swiss quartz movement rather than a mechanical one. While there are mechanical movements these thin, they aren't nearly as well-priced. I hear that this is also a ladies watch. It first looked like a men's watch. At 33mm wide, it is most certainly ladies sized, but doesn't it look like a men's piece? Maybe a bit dainty, but certainly masculine. The case is a mixture of black PVD and gold toned steel. The dial is very easy to read. I enjoy how Edox was able to give the watch a classic feel, though albeit in a modern Grand Ocean case. Price is $1,635.

Edox Watches To Be Featured In Spiderman 4 Movie

A statement from Swiss Edox watches indicates that their timepieces will be featured in the upcoming fourth installment of the Spiderman movie series. Initially set back due to delays, Spiderman 4 is slated for release in 2012, and will feature a new cast. Tobey Maguire departs as new lead Andrew Garfield will play Spiderman with Emma Stone playing opposite him as Mary Jane. According to Edox, each member of the cast will be able to choose an Edox timepiece themselves to wear in the film.

I was relatively surprised to hear this news as it would seem groups with a lot more money might vie for their timepieces to be in the film. The Richemont Group is known to pay big money for product placements in movies such as Ironman 2 and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. As a small brand, it is interesting to see Edox being chosen for inclusion in the film. It does make sense though - as Edox watches are much more affordable than many other Swiss watches costing maybe a couple thousand dollars versus tens of thousands of dollars. Seen above is a newer Edox Les Beomts Ultra Slim that is said to be among the watches in the film. Look out for Edox watches in Spiderman 4 next year.

Edox WRC Rally Chronograph Automatic Watch

This is the mechanical version of the 2010 Edox WRC Rally collection of timepieces based on Edox's strategic relationship with rally car racing. The other watches are quartz movement based timepieces with red trim (that I wrote about here). The mechanical version gets a nice gold colored trim and a Swiss ETA Valjoux 7750 chronograph automatic movement. Dial is easy to read despite being a bit on the avant garde side, and mostly in carbon fiber. Funny how a few years ago I prophesied the the decline of using carbon fiber in timepieces, and that never really came to pass (though it did lessen!).

The automatic version of the Edox WRC Rally comes in a 45mm wide steel case with a sapphire crystal and has 100 meters of water resistance. The design is marked by the massive chronograph pushers and crown - especially the gold colored start and stop button. I like the little visual bulge on the left side of the case meant to balance out the visual weight on the right side of the case. Strap is tire tread patterned rubber and the price is set to be $3,120. Should be out soon.

Edox for Koenigsegg Chronograph

Filed under: Timepieces / Watches, Luxury Cars & Autos

This beauty gives other car-related models a run for their money. The Edox for Koenigsegg racing chronograph pays tribute to Koenigsegg, makers of some of the fastest cars in the world. The chronograph has a 46mm stainless steel and titanium case with double sapphire crystals and is water resistant to 50 meters. The watch uses the automatic ETA caliber 2892-A2 with Dubois-Depraz chronograph module movement and has a carbon fiber dial. The watch is a limited edition of 30 pieces and sells for $30,000.
