Ebel Classic Sport Chrono Khaki Green Watch

Ebel Classic Sport Chrono Khaki Green Watch
Movado-Group-owned Ebel will release this pretty nice looking Classic Sport Chrono watch soon. Positioned as a more affordable model, the Classic Sport Chrono will contain a Swiss ETA quartz chronograph movement as opposed to a mechanical chronograph movement. Seen here is a delightful white and khaki green version, but I anticipate the collection to come in other colors as well in the future. The steel case has that Ebel Classic Hexagon shape, and is 41mm for this model. The watch has a sapphire crystal and is water resistant to 50 meters. The dial is complex and attractive, but does not detract from the legibility. The strap is rubber with vertical striping in green - which is matched by a green chronograph seconds hand. Not sure on pricing, but I anticipate under $1000.

Ebel Beluga Chocolate Watches

What about Beluga caviar? No, Ebel opts for the sweeter (less salty) Beluga with a new limited edition line of women's watches called the Beluga Chocolate. Coming in three colors the watches feature dials that resemble bricks of chocolate (are the watches also scented?) The names of the specific models? You guessed it "Dark (Black) Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, and White Chocolate."

The Beluga is actually an older watch line name that is being reintroduced after its debut in 1985. The watches are 37.5mm wide in 18k white gold that are decorated with 68 precious stones around the bezel and lugs. Based on the watches, the stones are either black, brown, or white diamonds (about 1.08 carats per watch).

The luxury watches contain Swiss ETA quartz movements, have AR coated sapphire crystals, and come with matching satin straps. Ebel even worked with chocolate maker Max Chocolatier to create special Beluga chocolates in honor of the collection. Not sure how man pieces will be in this limited edition or the price. Look for them soon.

Ebel Classic Hexagon 41mm Large Date Watch

I got to check out this handsome new timepiece from Ebel a few months back and now they are formally introducing it to the world. Given the return to basics and classicism this year in the luxury watch industry, Ebel has taken the best of the their past and present and created a timeless look for the Classic Hexagon 41mm Large Date watch. The big date complication really makes the piece - that and Ebel's signature monohull case that is made out of one piece of swoopy steel. It is 41mm wide - that makes it medium sized, and relatively thin at 10mm thick. The entire movement and dial is placed through the dial of the watch. The rear of the watch is curved and quite comfy. Ebel has always done a good job with playing with polish. The case is mostly satin finished with the bezel and screws done with a mirror finish. The hands and applied hour markers are polished as well for a handsome, legible look.

With a tight integration of the textured leather strap, the watch fits very securely on the wrist. The dial is available in black or galvanic silver. Inside the watch is a Swiss ETA 2896 automatic movement. This isn't the only classic styled big date watch this year, but is a good contender for your buying dollars.

Ebel Classic Sport Watches

The Classic Sport collection is a new range of men's and women's watch models from Ebel. The collection features some attractive designs and a diverse range of offerings that hold true to Ebel's DNA. Most important of which is the "monohull" case design. Meaning that the watch case is totally one piece. The back of it is a beautifully soft curved surface that will not pinch of irritate the skin. Everything is put in the case via the top, where a screwed down bezel and sapphire crystal hold the timepiece together. Style is similar to the Classic Hexagon watches, and builds on the brand character. Note the steel bracelets that are a mixture of the iconic Ebel Wave bracelet and a more common three think bracelet.

The collection has a 40mm wide version for men, and two versions for women at 27mm and 32mm wide. The women's versions have Swiss ETA quartz movements, while the men's version is further available with an ETA 2824 automatic movement. The cases have a nice mixture of polished and brushed surfaces. Crystal is sapphire and the cases are water resistant to 50 meters.

Ebel Classic Hexagon Retrograde Power Reserve Watch

Yet another variation on the "modern" Ebel Classic Hexagon, is this Retrograde Power Reserve watch that you see before you. How does it fit into the Ebel watch line? They already have calender watches, they already have retrograde watches, they already have rose gold watches. So consider it a not-so-identical twin. The dial layout seems a bit haphazard to me. Not the elegant loveliness that you seen in some of the other Classic Hexagon watches. Too much of the dial looks bare, while the bottom looks heavy. A good example of bad symmetry. Not like I would refuse the watch if Ebel handed one to me, but not my choice pick by any means.

The 45.4mm wide case is in 18k rose gold, crystal is sapphire, and the watch is only water resistant to 50 meters. I do like the contrasting polished and brushed surfaces on the case, and the way the strap forms to the case is smooth and well done. Movement is an automatic Soprod caliber 9094 movement (base ETA). You can see the functions include the time, day, date on a retrograde scale, and a power reserve indicator.

Ebel 1911 BTR Chronograph

You've probably seen the Ebel ads with Gisele Bundchen lounging around looking pensive. Like Raymond Weil, Ebel is another company also seeking to capture the male market. Their offering to masculinity is the 1911 BTR collection, a return to their popular 1911 model. According to an article in Europastar, the feminizing of Ebel reached its peak when Ebe lwas bought by LVMH, which seeked to have it be the feminine complement ot Tag Heuer. Now as part of the Movado group, Ebel is seeking to recapture the manly. BTR stands for "back to roots" and the chrono shown here features the first 100-percent Ebel automatic chronograph. The watch has a larger size (a 44.5mm case) bevelled hands, faceted time markers, and the cool detail of having the pushbuttons and crown enhanced with rubber. The 1911 BTR Chronograph shown here sells for under $5,000 but the complete range has also has pricer models in pink gold.
