The Scent of the Plaza

Looks like The Plaza Hotel in New York has been thinking some thing over and asked itself a question worthy of Scarface: why take a cut when we can have the whole thing? Instead of selling eau de parfum from from another maker, the Plaza has commissioned its own from haute parfumery Krigler. Said to remind one of "grace, beauty, elegance and style," it is an assemblage of the scents that have been doing that for centuries, such as bergamot, grapefruit and leather.

Intriguingly, the hotel has elected to call this olfactory joy "The Plaza," where we might have thought they'd give it a name a little less institutional. If nothing else, though, it gives us a good reason to move up from our other hotel fragrance, The Howard Johnson's. You can avail yourself of The Plaza at the hotel's shop in soap, candle, or eau de parfum, the last of which runs $95 for 1.7 ounces.

Burberry Sport Eau de Parfum

Burberry has come out with a set of fragrances to compliment their new performance wear collection of apparel named Burberry Sport. The men's version is a union of marine breeze and juniper berries with a woody base and top notes of ginger, wheatgrass, and grapefruit. For women (the packaging is mostly white instead of black) it has magnolia and honeysuckle paired with a base of musky cedarwood and top notes of mandarin, ginger and sea salt. They certainly sound fresh and sporty, buy them from Burberry.com for $57-$78.

Paris Hilton's Mom Is In The Fragrance Business Too

Usually children follow in the footsteps of their parents, but in the case of the Hiltons one parent is following in those of her children: Kathy Hilton has her own fragrance. Called "My Secret" it comes in a very pretty jewel-like bottle (a pink heart though? Come on) and has top notes of mandarin, freesia, and peony, middle notes of rose, jasmine, and apricot leaf, and bottom notes of sandalwood, vanilla musk, and sandalwood. Available at Macy's for $52-$68 (FYI this version of the bottle featuring Kathy's signature is a limited edition).
