Birds of Sausalito Leather Goods

Our friends from Birds of Sausalito who recently helped us giveaway a pair of luxury pajamas also has a new line of leather goods. The company has co-branded with San Francisco's Mulholland Brothers,a company we've covered for their line of quality bags before. The new Birds of Sausalito line is done in a deep brown leather they call "stout" no doubt after the dark beer. The weekend bag shown here is known as the Shorthorn and is a classic overnight bag with a generous outside pocket, rolled leather handles and a detachable padded shoulder strap. When you unzip the top center zipper the bag's top stands up and open allowing for easy packing. The bag is nylon lined and inside there is mostly open space except for a single zippered envelope pocket. It's the sort of classic bag that never goes out of style and attains a certain well-worn gravitas as it ages. It sells for $795.

I warned everybody before that I was suddenly feeling springy and all about the florals, and today is no exception with the Coach Bleecker Leather Tooled Floral Large Duffle. It's got a classic feminine duffle shape but with an updated design of whimsical flowers that have a variety of different little designs in each petal (notice the Coach signature C!). It's neutral, which is always great, without coming off as plain, which is also great. Big enough to carry all your day-to-day essentials, I call this bag a spring must have. $798

Lockheart Kate Duffle, Handbag of the Day

The adorable Kate Duffle is a new bag from relatively new label, Lockheart, started by two of the former minds behind Isabella Fiore's handbags. The small, versatile duffle measures in at just 10"H x 14"L x 7"D and, in addition to having two smooth leather handles on top, it includes a removable leather shoulder strap. The bag is made out of a mix of soft matte leather and woven patent leather, all in black. The hardware is silver, but the feminine look of the duffle keeps it from looking too "edgy." It has a top zipper and there are a total of six pockets in the spacious, canvas-lined interior. $825.

Since you can't take a whole lot in your carry-on luggage these days, it's important to have a bag that is easy to recognize at the baggage claim in case you need to check it. After all, the only thing worse than spending unnecessary time at the airport is having to go back to the airport because someone took your luggage by mistake. The Lula Holiday Duffle stands out from your average traveling bag because it is just a bit girly, a nice change from utilitarian black and navy bags. It is made of brown Italian leather with gold lambskin trim and a satin lining. At only 17" x 12" x 7", it could easily be carried around during the day in lieu of a regular handbag and it will definitely fit under the seat in front you on a plane - provided there are no liquids in it, of course.
