Paris Hilton's Dog House Costs More Than Many Homes

Last season J.C. Penney built one of their major ad campaigns on exhorting men to do what they could to stay out of the dog house. But if you are one of Paris Hilton's many pets the dog house is the place to be. Hilton recently shared photos of her new designer doghouse on Twitter. Paris's pinkified pet playhouse has two floors. Downstairs there is a living room and upstairs there is a bedroom and a closet to stash the many outfits she has purchased for her small pets. Hilton's dogs, which bear names like Tinkerbell, Marilyn Monroe, Prince Baby Bear, Harajuku, Dolce and Prada, will feel right at home because the mini-mansion, outfitted by interior decorator Faye Resnick was designed to resemble Hilton's own home in all its pink majesty and includes miniature Philippe Starck furniture, heat, air conditioning and even a black crystal chandelier and black ceiling moldings. At a price of $325,000, as Perez Hilton points out, such extavagance might not sit well with the many people in the U.S. struggling to hold on to their homes. But then again, would we expect anything less of Paris Hilton?

Enormous, Expensive Victorian Dog House

The title of this post does a good job at explaining exactly what this product is: it's a very large, very pricey house for your dog. I would argue that it's really more of a kennel because it has both a 6' x 8' fence-enclosed play area with a separate sleeping nook that's actually the dog house. The exterior is Victorian-themed with gables, gingerbread trim, and darling little shutters on the windows. Be careful if you have kids -- they'll probably want to take it over as a playhouse! $4,300

Ceramic and Platinum Travel Suitcase for Dogs

A pet carrier for people who don't want to necessarily look like they're carrying a pet, this Ceramic Travel Doghouse looks more like a suitcase than a carrier. I like its crisp contemporary design, but can't help but wonder about two things: I don't see any openings other than the door, is there really enough airflow? And being made of ceramic and platinum, how much does the darn thing weigh?

I have to admit that as pet carriers go this one does have style appeal. Designed by Marco Morosini for Bosa, €670.

It's all about being green lately, and if you're like many people you probably even made a New Years resolution this year that had something to do with being friendlier to the environment. The Cape Dog House from Bella Dogga is a traditional dog house on a slant. The dog house is constructed of heavy-duty 1/2 inch birch plywood that is painted a dark blue-gray, and topped with classic New England cedar shake shingles. The walls lean out slightly so that it is wider at the top than at the bottom giving your dog a sense of spaciousness in his new home. It also has cute oddly-shaped windows.
