Mouawad's 1001 Nights Purse, The World's Most Valuable Handbag

Forget handbag of the day, this is perhaps, the handbag of a lifetime. Jewelry designer Mouawad, which has designed some of the jewel-studded bras for Victoria's Secret, has unveiled "The Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse". The bag is valued at $3.8 million and has claimed the Guinness World Record as the most valuable handbag in the world.

"Just as the tales of Scheherazade have captivated readers with their intricately woven plots of uninhibited passion and daring, so the Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse is designed to mesmerize with its lavish attention to detail and elaborate workmanship incorporating thousands of diamonds," said Pascal Mouawad, co-guardian of the House of Mouawad.

The heart-shaped purse is made from 18K gold and is covered with 4,517 diamonds (105 yellow, 56 pink and 4,356 colorless) representing a total weight of 381.92 carats. Creating the bag took 10 craftsmen more than 1,000 hours to complete. The Daily Mail reports that the handbag was exhibited at the Doha Jewelry and Watches Exhibition over the weekend.
