Blockbuster Pink Diamonds For Sale At M.S. Rau Antiques

There's no question that pink diamonds are hotter than hot lately. Last month a modified rectangular-cut fancy vivid purple-pink diamond of 6.89 carats sold for $6.91 million at Christie's New York Jewels auction on December 7. You won't have to pay quite that much to make the Cassel Pink Diamond yours. The Cassel Pink Diamond was once owned by the famous English banker and royal financial advisor, Sir Ernest Cassel and is a 4.71 carat purplish-pink diamond. It is GIA certified Fancy Purple-Pink with SI2 clarity. The center stone is set in 18K rose gold with .79 carats of pink diamonds. It is for sale at M.S. Rau Antiques in New Orleans for $1.4 million.

A lighter stone, a 10.02 carat, cushion-cut, "Natural Fancy Light Pink" diamond ring is also for sale. This one is also set in 18K rose gold and surrounded by 1.00 total carat of round brilliant pink diamonds. It sells for $1.3 million.

The Bachelor's Big Diamond

On Monday, the latest edition of ABC's "The Bachelor" wound up with the traditional teary-eyed proposal and a big rock. Hollywood jewelry designer Neil Lane was the jeweler of choice, showing up to present Jake Pavelka with a choice of sparkling rocks. Pavelka hemmed and hawed over a round cut (representing good girl Tenley) and a princess cut (representing the more saucy Vienna). He ended up choosing Vienna and a Neil Lane princess-cut diamond and platinum ring. The ring is set with 70 diamonds for a total weight of 2.72 carats, the center diamond is a 2.02 carat princess-cut diamond. No word on price, but depending on the quality of the center stone this ring likely cost over $25,000. The ring was custom designed and signed by Lane. We'll probably be seeing a lot more Neil Lane this weekend on the Oscar red carpet.

Elvis Presley Ring Up For Auction

The spontaneous generosity of Elvis Presley was legendary and launched thousands of stories. The 10 carat diamond ring shown above was given to fan Lloyd Perry in Asheville North Carolina at concert in 1975. This one-of-a-kind piece of Elvis Presley memorabilia will be sold at auction by Affiliated Auctions in Tallahassee, Florida on December 6th, 2009. Perry says that the piece was given to him when, four songs in to his 1.5 hour show Elvis tossed his Gibson guitar in to the audience. Perry and the man seated to his right both grabbed for the the guitar. Perry let the other man have the guitar and a few songs later Elvis Presley called Perry on stage, shook his hand and then took the diamond ring shown above from his own finger and handed it to Perry. The 10ctw diamond ring, consists of 19 four-prong set diamonds set in 14K yellow gold.

Put "Valentine's Day" and "diamond ring" together and most people's minds will go to "engagement" next, but there are plenty of other reasons to give, get, or wear a diamond ring this Vday. There are anniversary bands, fashion rings, and of course the "Right Hand Ring" is growing ever more popular as women decide that they don't have to wait for a man in order to wear a beautiful diamond.

Engagement rings might be the most common type of diamond rings given and worn next week, but they certainly don't have to be the only type!

Diamond Ring Scavenger Hunt Planned For Philly

We've seen this once in Boston, now a Philadelphia-area jeweler is holding a scavenger hunt with a diamond ring as a prize. The Robbins Diamonds Dash pits teams from Philadelphia against each other searching for the prize, a Hearts On Fire diamond ring, valued at $20,000. This scavenger hunt has a tech twist, clues will be sent via text message and the teams can interact in the game by texting codes such as <hint> or <score> to receive help or standings. The event will be held Saturday, October 18. Teams gather at Thomas Paine Plaza at 10 a.m., the final clue will be given at 12:30 p.m and the afterparty starts at 2 p.m.. You can register your team online at the Robbins Diamonds Dash website. Happy hunting!

Bibigi Fashion Collection Rings

Bibigi has many unique jewelry designs but their Fashion Collection rings are my absolute favorite because I love gardening, flowers, and the outdoors. Featuring an obvious floral theme, the collection is bright with colorful leaves, petals, and the occasional dragonfly or butterfly. Featuring white gold and yellow gold with diamonds, black diamonds, and enamel accents, the collection has a definite whimsical vibe. One of my favorites is this Van Gogh ring, of which there are four designs including a coordinating necklace and earrings.

Halle Berry Gets the Ring, No Plans For a Wedding

Lovely and pregnant Halle Berry has no plans to marry but that doesn't mean she doesn't get diamonds. Her boyfriend, Versace model and restaurateur Gabriel Aubry has reportedly given her $10,000 Cartier eternity ring to symbolize their commitment. The ring is composed of pavé-set diamonds in platinum. Berry and Aubry are also a bit non-traditional in that they share a bi-coastal relationship, he's based in New York and she is based in Los Angeles. Berry is due to give birth in the spring.
