Engadget just introduced us to DoorLinX, the world's first mp3-playing doorbell system from NetStreams. It has an integrated microphone, a speaker and, of course, the outdoor trigger button. The unit is operated with the help of a Streaming Music Manager, which locates and streams music for the operation of the doorbell. The release date is "soon" so we don't have a price yet, but being able to customize your doorbell in the same way you can customize your mobile ring tone seems like a great way to add some more individuality to your home.

Golf Ball Finder

The BallFinder SCOUT, a golf ball finder, uses a video-based camera to find those lost golf balls. As long as 1% of a white golf ball (yes, it has to be white ball) is showing, this device, which can search up to 600 square feet in one second or almost 1/7 of an acre in 10 seconds, will find it. According to Sanderon, the company which makes the device, quickly being able to find your ball will speed up your game and you'll save money if you're not constantly losing balls. Additionally, I'd point out that this would be good for senior players who can't always locate their golf balls. Price: $270

The World's Most Expensive Doll

The interesting object shown here is the world's most expensive doll. Known as L'Oiseleur (The Bird Trainer) it is a four foot tall figure of a young man holding a flute and dressed in Renaissance clothing. The doll, which has an asking price of $6,250,000 was created in a Swiss workshop. Once wound with a golden key, the doll plays the flute, blowing "Marche des Rois" by Georges Bizet. His fingers play the instrument and his eyes move back and forth. Two birds, one on his shouler and one on his hand, sing along, opening and closing their beaks, turning their heads and flapping their wings. Most amazingly the entire show is powered by tiny cogs and gears (no batteries or other power source). The doll has 2,340 parts and took 15,000 hours to create.
