Golf Club Estates at Heritage Creek

Another golfers' delight community is being built. The interesting thing about this one in Warwick, Pennsylvania is that is a new development of 210 single-family homes overlooking an 18-hole public golf course, a 50-acre park and 2 miles of walking trails. The Golf Club Estates at Heritage Creek is the second phase of the Heritage Creek project, an adjoining age-restricted development of 402 single homes and 115 condominiums. The new homes are 3,477 to 4,300 square feet and are aimed at retiring baby boomers. The four-bedroom homes start in the mid-$600,000s.

Vantage Lofts, Las Vegas

Las Vegas condo development seems to be divided into two distinct types, the skyscraper, Strip-adjacent co-tels and the lower, more community-centered buildings. Vantage Lofts combine a bit of both worlds. The are located in downtown nearby Henderson rather than on the Strip but feature some of the amenities usually seen in the Strip projects. The lofts have high glass walls and high-end amenities such as Crestron automation systems, Blum hardware, and plumbing fixtures by Duravit and Hansgrohe and under counter wine coolers by Viking. The development consists of one- and two-bedroom flats and two-story lofts ranging from 1,000 square feet to 2,800 square feet, priced from $400,000s to $2.5 million. The development also has a clubhouse with two swimming pools.

Barama Bay Island

Filed under: Estates, Luxury Travel & Hotels, Yachts & Sailing

The next exclusive place to play may be Barama Bay Island. The tropical paradise is located off the east coast of Phuket, Thailand and will become a new resort that will include a six-star hotel, yacht club and private estates. The island can be reached by water taxi or helicopter. The island has a no-car policy (electric carts only) and will have a deep water marina for mooring larger yachts. The hotel will include multiple pools and a large spa. The entire project is set to be completed in early 2009 and prices start at $3 million for an 8,000 square foot villa set on a one acre plot.

Westbury Development

A new community is being developed for "active adults" in a Chicago suburb. Westbury will be located in Yorkville, Illinois and will be a hub of five residential villages and a village center. There will be approximately 4,000 homes including luxury, conventional and courtyard townhomes and single-family ranch and villa homes. The developer Ocean Atlantic will not build on any of the residential lots, the lots are being sold to homebuilders in pods, groups of lots designated for a certain product and price point. The development, which is already under construction, will also have The Shops at Westbury which will offer a variety of restaurants and shopping options and the Westbury Country Club which will have an 18-hole golf course, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, fitness center and spa. Between the use of the word 'pod" and the slightly creepy "active adults" this sounds a bit like Stepford comes to Chicago.

4 Projects Miami

I was smitten when I saw Santiago Calatrava's plans for the cube building in New York. A similar project, Cube, is part of 4Projects Miami, a collection of four new unique developments including Casa, Canvas and Cor, a building with a facade that integrates solar panels, sun shades and turbines. The Cube, designed by Chad Oppenheim will be 112 modules and will have street level retail space. There will be 360 units total and prices range from $350,000 to over two million. After the jump, pictures of Casa, Canvas and Cor.
