T. Anthony Alligator Desk Set

In the electronic age the elegant executive's desk set is something of a throwback to a more Mad Men-ish era. In December we wrote about Bottega Veneta's luxe sterling silver version. Now Manhattan luxury luggage and leather goods company T. Anthony has come out with an even more luxurious set in genuine Louisiana alligator skin (above). Available by special order only with a production time of up to three months, the price depends on the market for the exotic leather, but was recently quoted at $13,000. Available in brown with polished gold fittings or black with polished nickel fittings, the set consists of a document tray, blotter, letter opener, scissors, memo pad holder and pencil cup. T. Anthony, founded in 1946, has a rich history of making custom luggage and travel items for the likes of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Marilyn Monroe and Jackie Onassis.

Italian luxury goods firm Bottega Veneta has come out with a stunning sterling silver desk set (above) which cleverly translates the company's signature leather weave, known as Intrecciato. The stylish set includes a ruler ($1,670), letter opener ($1,070), magnifying glass ($820), business card case ($790) and bookmark ($180). Creative director Tomas Maier, who was installed following Gucci's acquisition of the brand in 2001, has recently expanded Bottega Veneta's offerings beyond the traditional leather goods and apparel, to elegant effect.

Hani Rashid Office Supplies

The desk sets by Hani Rashid for Alessi just might me one of the sexiest sets of office supplies I have ever seen. While his brother Karim Rashid prefers soft bloopy shapes, Hani's deisgns here are all edges. The items, which are priced from $28 to $108 include a gleaming stainless steel desk organizer and stackable document holders of thermoplastic resin.

Swarovksi Crystal Desk Accessories

It's been a little while since I uncovered a truly ridiculous Swarovski-crystal-bedazzled geegaw. Wait no longer, I present to you the Swarovksi crystal desk set. Neiman Marcus is selling an optic three-button mouse, tape dispenser and stapler in your choice of  light rose, iridescent, peridot, or light sapphire Swarovski crystals. Yes, they are totally pointless and at $100 to $110 each, a bit pricey, but couldn't your desk use a bit of sparkle.
