SalvationSacks, Handbag of the Day

SalvationSacks offers unique, wearable works of art using salvaged, recycled and vintage materials from decades past. Mixing and matching textures and patterns, the bags are one-of-a-kind creations with a social consciousness. Plus, they are really pretty.

This bowler was made from 1960's vintage linen curtains and trimmed with leather furniture remnants. Notice the vintage brooch attached to the front and leather belt strap. $145.

Cavalli Serpent Bracelet Clutch, Handbag of the Day

This beautiful bag is actually two accessories in one. The detachable gold gold serpent bracelet serves as a wristlet for the bag, or as a fashion statement all on its own. The bold fuchsia print on ivory satin is stunning, dressed up with a touch of gold piping. With a simple flap closure, it is brilliant spring style at its best. £425.

Fendi Camouflage Media Bag, Handbag of the Day

I love orange and the patent leather trim on this bag really makes things pop. Lots of interesting details here: over sized camouflage-print buckles with logo prongs, chain insets on the tan zucca-print shoulder straps and gold-tone hardware. It all contrasts nicely with the brown/dark green leather of the bag. $1,920.

Tanner Krolle Eva, Handbag of the Day

There were a lot of important things being discussed at the G8 summit last week: combating disease in Africa, fair global trade and world climate issues among them. But what caught the attention of fashionistas everywhere was Cherie Blair's handbag. The wife of Prime Minister Tony Blair took a little heat for the price tag, but she looked great carrying this Tanner Krolle Eva bag. With straw-printed, embossed calf leather, the bag is lined in suede and features the signature circle and square fastener. Inside are three pockets, including a cell phone holder. £895.00.

Jelly Bag, Handbag of the Day

There really isn't anything special about the design of these Jelly bags, but the availability of such beautiful colors makes up for the simple style. This color is called arancio, but you can choose from a veritable rainbow of hues with names like zinco and bleu. The bags come in three sizes and all feature silver hardware and an inside pocket. Made from latex rubber, they are durable and washable and sure to come in a color that complements your attire. The large size sells for $194.99.

Nancy Gonzalez Crocodile Satchel, Handbag of the Day

Yellow is a hot color this summer and this pale shade is lovely. The white gold crocodile bag is trimmed in python and has interesting, looped detailing on the handle. At just 4.5 inches, it's not a very tall bag. But what it lacks in height, it more than makes up for in length -- 11.75 inches. Inside, the bag is lined and has one cell-phone pocket. $2250.

Kooba Elisha Shoulder Tote, Handbag of the Day

The Kooba Elisha Shoulder Tote is available in black or white, but the I like it best in the blond leather. It looks buttery soft with a knotted bow detail on the front and deep side pockets. With just a little bit of gold hardware on the handle rings, the look is unstructured and casual. Inside, it is lined in cotton and has not one, but two cell phone pockets. $535.

Fenton Earl Tote, Handbag of the Day

This tote is more than just a large bag with a groovy green and black print. It has a handy hook at the top that allows you fold it over to create a smaller bag. Opened full size, it's a roomy 18.5 inches, but when hooked, it is a mere 8 inches. Trimmed in black leather, the bag feature two large magnetic-snap pockets on the front and double handles. Inside, it's lined in suede and has four patch pockets and a key chain. With a removable chain tassel and two charms included, the bag sells for $925.

Goldenbleu Luella Patent Leather Tote, Handbag of the Day

Carrying this large, shiny bag will definitely get you noticed. I am not sure about the color, but I love the clasp pocket on the outside and the large circle handles look sturdy enough to carry all the necessities you can fit in this 14 inch tote. Inside, it is lined in suede with a large interior zipper pocket, two patch pockets and a key ring. If screaming green doesn't work for you, it is also available in black. $566.

Tod's Boomerang East-West Satchel, Handbag of the Day

This bag is cute, but I am a little perplexed by the flap closure. Maybe this isn't important to everyone, but I like a bag that is easy to close. The large flap tucked under the giant brass logo ring looks tidy, but I wonder how easy that is to accomplish with one hand. At any rate, the bag looks sharp with aged brass hardware and contrasting top stitching against brandy-colored leather. I like the logo-etched studs all over the bag and the flat shoulder strap is just the right length with a 7.5 inch drop. Inside, the bag is lined and has a leather trimmed pocket . $1,033.

Fendi Patent Magic Bag, Handbag of the Day

To me, what makes this bag magic is the beautiful color. They call it tobacco, but I think it looks more like warm chocolate caramel. I like the fact that the tarnished silver hardware and studded accents are kept to a minimum and don't detract the focus from where it belongs -- on the gorgeous patent leather. With a small logo turn-lock closure, the bag looks trendy and classic at the same time. The interior is lined with canvas and features a zip pocket. $1,300.

L.A.M.B. Love Venezia, Handbag of the Day

A velvet strip of navy blue wrapped around white leather gives this otherwise ordinary bag a bit of a preppy look. The double handles are also interesting with what looks like zippers sewn into the leather. Inside, the bag is lined in a logo stripe and has zip and cell-phone pockets. With just the right amount of gold-plated hardware and a simple hinged-frame closure, this roomy bag is low-key and subtle. Also available in black on black and red with tan. $725.

Inge Christopher Bead Circle Frame Clutch, Handbag of the Day

Inge Christopher is known for high quality special occasion bags created using a variety of embroidery and beading techniques. Distinctive and beautiful, this one features pearl-colored beads arranged in subtle circle patterns on a small, frame clutch. A kiss-lock closure keeps the bag secure and the beaded chain link strap is removable. Also available in black or bronze. $245.

Isabella Fiore Paisley Frame Satchel, Handbag of the Day

Isabella Fiore's bags always catch my eye. They stand out from other bags and I have yet to come across one that I don't love. I like this one for the pretty contrasting detail as well as the shape. With a black leather paisley cutout over ivory, the bag is accented with antique brass hardware. The frame top is secured with a turn-lock closure and the inside features three pockets, one zip compartment and a cotton lining. $544.

Tracy Reese Cecily Flap Satchel, Handbag of the Day

There is a lot going on with this bag, but somehow it still looks clean and sleek. This satchel has goldtone hardware everywhere, including the protective feet. Fully lined with interior zip pocket and plenty more pockets on the outside, the bag is available in bone or a darker saddle leather. The only thing that detracts from the beauty of this bag is the somewhat clunky hardware on the turn-lock closure. I would prefer something simpler and a bit smaller. $795.
