Danielle Steel's Jewelry Collection

Writing page-turning romance novels has paid off for Danielle Steel. The prolific author is said to be worth $600 to $800 million. She is known for her couture tastes and her jewel collection, part of which is set to be auctioned off at Christie's New York on April 16 as part of their Jewels auction. Steel's collection includes many unique and striking pieces such as a diamond-and-black-coral owl brooch by Van Cleef & Arpels, a pair of sapphire and diamond "Trumpet Flower" ear clips by Jean Schlumberger, Tiffany & Co., an emerald and diamond bead necklace, a gold armadillo bracelet from David Webb, a pair of gold cuff bracelets featuring animals carved in peridot and watches from Patek Philippe and Franck Muller. All beautiful choices and I suspect that Ms. Steel has even more fabulous pieces still in her collection.

Smell Like A Romance Novel

WWD reports that author Danielle Steel is coming out with a fragrance. Steel, who is famous for her popular romance-driven books, is working with Elizabeth Arden to launch Danielle by Danielle Steel. Steel is famed for her love of couture gowns and her feminine style and her fragrance is described as having a heart of jasmine, rose and orchid. The new fragrance, which comes in a heavy glass bottle has a box design based on one of Steel's favorite gowns, a pink and black lace Rochas number. The fragrance will be in stores in late October and the 1.7 ounce eau de parfum will sell for $49.50.

Kazaan Viveiros paintings

Many in the San Francisco art community were saddened to hear that Steel Gallery -- owned and operated by novelist Danielle Steel -- is closing its doors this month.

Take heart, art buffs: despite the bad news, one of Steel Gallery's favorite painters, Kazaan Viveiros, is still alive and kicking.

A favorite of ARTnews and the SF Weekly, Viveiros's eerie works are equal parts hyper-realist images and abstract color planes. In other words, they're both traditional and edgy. And while I'm not sure if Condoleeza Rice is a Kazaan Viveiros fan, the Portugese-American's paintings do grace the walls of the State Department.

Though painting prices are not disclosed on Viveiros's website, I'm sure Steel Gallery can quote you a price. Better hurry up and give them a call, though.
