Marvin Malton 160 Cushion Khaki Watch

Green is really in this year. Good for military inspired watches, as well as those that wish to signal a season of fresh birth for the watch industry (something that timepiece makers need). This charming fellow is the green khaki model in the new Marvin Malton 160 Cushion watch collection. The well-designed new collection has a cushion shaped case that is 42mm wide in steel. Mostly retro-sporty in design, there are a number of dials and versions available. The Malton 160 Cushion Khaki offers up the piece with a khaki green textured dial and perforated leather strap.

Unless you really can't see yourself wearing green, this is a very handsome timepiece that I think will appeal to both men and women (even if the size is too large for many women's wrists). A nice standout piece from an already highly competent collection. Inside is a Swiss Sellita SW200 automatic movement and price is gonna be in the $1,000 - $1,500 range.

Seat Slice

I don't think I could do any better describing the Seat Slice than Branch Home did when they likened it to what the stump of a tree would look like in Candyland. Designed by Lene Frantzen and handmade by Zigzign in Denmark, the Seat Slice is made of densely wound 100% virgin wool felt. The wool makes it not only comfortable to sit on but also dirt resistant, durable, and insulating while the color pattern makes each one eye-catching and unique. Shown here in pink, it's also available in a pretty blend of green. $238.

Chair Wear

I will come right out and say that I do not agree with Issey Miyake's decision to make dual-purpose furniture and clothing, but given that he is making it using A-POC, cloth made in a revolutionary new process that is entirely done by machine, it could conceivably be the wave of the future. Make that the ripple of the future, because his newest creation is based on the design of a chair called "Ripple" that he made last year with designer Ron Arad.  The new product, known as Gemini, is "a streamlined, body-cushioning seat pillow made of A-POC fabric, which morphs into an elegant body-hugging jacket." Elegant is not the word that I would use, but there is no doubt that this is a fairly innovative use for seat cushioning, an object that's only significant accomplishment (aside from actually cushioning the seat) to date has been doubling as a flotation device on airplanes. The Gemini chair cushion debuted in Milan and will be available retail in Miyake shops later this year for $1,360.
