Bentley Hosts Open House for Spare Parts at Crewe Factory

Looking for that elusive part for your vintage Bentley or Rolls-Royce? Your chance to find it may be coming up as the Bentley factory warehouse in Crewe, England, is opening its doors to the public for a unique event. The factory produced both Bentley and Rolls-Royce motorcars between 1955 and 2002 when the two stoic British premium auto marques went their own separate ways, and ever since, Bentley's been stocking parts for both brands. But with the new Grand Bentley on its way next month, they're cleaning house to make space for a whole new set of parts. Everything from engine blocks to indicator lights are for sale, according to Bentley, at the event in late September, so if you're an owner, enthusiast or trader, better book your ticket now.

Bentley Makes Furniture To Cope With The Econonomic Downturn

Luxury car company, Bentley has found a new way to help keep jobs, it has put its employees to work making furniture. The factory in Crewe employs a team of skilled woodworkers to make the gleaming walnut Bentley dashboard and wood trim. The Daily Telegraph reports that 140 members of the staff are using off-cuts from the walnut wood to make cabinets, occasional tables and furniture for the reception area at the Crewe factory. It also plans to use the furniture in Bentley showrooms and could even come out with a line for the public if there is enough demand. One of the cabinets is on display at the Geneva motor show. It's a clever move for the company which has recently had to cut jobs and slow production to keep pace with a decline in orders.

Bentley's Private Luxury Train

Bentley motors recently chartered a private first class Pullman rail car to transport customers and top international dealers from London to its Bentley Worldwide Conference in Crewe, England, and the trip was such a success it's been suggested the company add it as a regular event. The journey, 2 1/4 hours each way, featured onboard dining by chef Anton Mosimann of London's swank Mosimann's eating club, to which many Bentley owners belong.

Should the company elect to feature the luxe rail service, there are many elegant trains available for charter including the beautiful Royal Scotsman (above). Customers purchasing a new Bentley motorcar could then travel onboard to Crewe in high style to select bespoke options and finishes for their luxurious automobiles. What could be more civilized than that?
