Yeti Coolers

Ah, spring when a person's thoughts turn to outdoor activities. The ice chest isn't generally considered a luxury object but the Yeti coolers are designed to keep things cooler than many cheaper versions. The coolers have a a full two inches of polyurethane foam in the sides, bottom and lid to keep items cold all day which makes them great for use on boats when people stay out on the water for long excursions. It has a home freezer-style lid gasket that creates an airtight seal. Heavy-duty rubber T-latches and a self stopping, full length integrated hinge keep it secure in the roughest conditions. A leak-proof drain plug offers easy draining without leaks. It can be used to store food and drinks or bait and fish. It also has a large dry-goods rack to keep dry food cold while preventing contact with the ice. The new Tundra series is available in sizes from 35 to 420 quarts with prices starting at $225 and heading up to $895.

Piet Hein Drink Cooler

It's a stone, it's an egg, it's... actually a sort of metal ice cube designed to chill your drinks without the diluting effect that ice has. The Piet Hein Drink Cooler is made of seamless stainless steel and has a liquid core, which hardens when the egg is frozen and allows the cooler to actually cool your drink. They are no larger than ordinary ice cubes, so the only potential downside is that you might have to pay a bit more attention to what you're doing when you toss ice into glasses. Price: $31 each.

Canine Cooler Pet Beds

As the days get hotter and summer approaches more and more rapidly, we can remove layers and lounge around in shorts and tanks, but our pets can't do the same. When you live in a hot climate, it isn't uncommon to see dogs panting in the shade or cats sprawled in a dark room with a cool, tiled floor in the heat of the day. To make your furry friend more comfortable, think about something like the Canine Cooler Pet Bed. The bed is "paw-proof" and filled with a patented thermoregulating material, which stays cool regardless of the surrounding temperature. It is padded with a soft, thick foam that can conform to the shape of a pet's body, making it not only comfortable, but a good choice for older pets and those with joint problems. Price: $45-85, depending on size.

Swarovski Crystalised Fridge by Gorenje

Appropriately named The Eye-catcher, this premium fridge-freezer is all black featuring 7,000 hand embedded crystals from Swarovski.  Only 10 will be produced, which should get things rolling on the Commercial Line which is based on the Eye-catcher.  It comes in black and silver with a still reputable 3,500 crystals. The high tech fridge is controlled by an eye level screen mounted on the fridge door allowing temperature adjustments, monitoring and alarms to be set in addition to a voice recorder/player. Price to be announced.
