Container Yachts
For those who want a sailing yacht but don't want to have to sail it around the world to get to from point A to point B, Container Yachts has created a sailboat that can fit inside a standard 40-foot shipping container. The boat has a narrow beam to fit in the 8-foot-wide container. Last month, InBox, the Container Yachts prototype Far Harbour 39 was launched and a power sea trial confirmed a top end speed of 8.3 knots. The boat has a galley, head with shower and can sleep four (and be a live-aboard for two). She costs $225,000 including sails and electronics.[via Megayacht News]
