Oak Bay Beach Hotel Plans New Condo Units

The historic Oak Bay Beach Hotel in Victoria, Canada is becoming the first combined luxury hotel and private residence in Victoria. The 100-room hotel will have 20 full-ownership suites that will open in the fall of 2010, just in time for the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Walker Hospitality opened registration to buyers who may be interested. The Walkers plan to restore the hotel's luxury by including the lobby fireplace, Tudor facade and even the original Snug Pub beer mug. The development also calls for modern interior updates and a touch of green, the project is aiming for LEED Gold certification. The residential suites are penthouse and sub-penthouse units with views of the Pacific and the San Juan Islands. They range in size from 857 sq. ft. to 2,285 sq. ft. and prices start at $1 million.

Rosarito Beach Hotel Opens New Tower

I've seen a ton of condo-hotel projects in Cabo and even a few in Ensenada, now the next stop on the Baja Peninsula to get a facelift is the Rosarito Beach Hotel. The hotel has a long history. It started out as a 12-room hunting lodge in 1925 and played host to many celebrities including Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Orson Wells, Rita Hayworth and John Wayne. Now the hotel will become a 500 room and suite resort with an official grand opening on August 2. They are offering a Sunday through Thursday special room rate of just $79.

New to the compound is the oceanfront 17-story, 271-suite Pacifico Tower. The new tower offers an infinity pool and a rooftop restaurant. The Pacifico Tower has fully furnished suites that are offered for sale and can be placed in the hotel rental program. One bedroom condos start at $190,000, two-bedroom condos start at $362,000 and two-story, three-bedroom penthouses start at $599,000.

Westin Versara

Sales are well underway at the Westin Verasa in Napa. This project is the fifth project between Starwood hotel group and Intrawest. The Westin Verasa Napa Residences are 160 whole ownership units ranging from studios to two-bedroom suites and owners are each entitled to stay at the hotel up to 29 days a year. The hotel amenities include a pool and spa that overlook the Napa river, a Reebok gym, bocce ball courts, a bar, and a signature restaurant. The suites range in price from approximately $500,000 to over $1.3 million per room. Vacationers can book nightly accommodations when the resort opens next year, no word on the rates yet. The resort is ideally located for wine country exploration, it is adjacent to Copia, the center for food and wine and the Oxbow Public Market, a large market featuring local vendors and organic farm stands will be right next door.

The Tuscany At Grace Bay

One of the newest developments on the idyllic Grace Bay in Turks & Caicos is The Tuscany. The condo-hotel has 30 three-bedroom suites facing Grace Bay Beach. The suites have two guest bedrooms each with an adjoining bath, a master bedroom with a platform contoured soaking tub, over-sized shower and double vanity sinks, a kitchen, laundry area, and a living room area that includes an enclosed patio. Amenities at the resort include a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, lounge areas, tennis courts, a gym and concierge service. From August 1 through October 31, 2007, a seven-night stay costs $3,375. Rates soar to up to $1,000 a night during the holiday season. The condo-suites are also available for purchase.

Casa Cupula, The First Gay Condo-Hotel

Gay resorts are increasing in popularity but so far I hadn't see any gay-themed fractional resorts until now. Puerto Vallerta's Casa Cupula, a popular gay destination has created a new condo-hotel for gay men and friends. The Private Residences are available in both full and fractional ownership. Shared amenities include rooftop terrace with an infinity pool, secure indoor parking, shared use of an SUV, 24/7 security and a state-of-the-art gym and spa The units also offer all of Casa Cupula's services such as room service, concierge, free continental breakfast, free WiFi Internet access and linens. The units will each be individually designed with home theaters, dual-headed showers, Jacuzzis and in-suite laundry. Some units also come with individual dipping pools, gourmet kitchens and private roof-top terraces. Prices start at under $100,000 for 28-day fractional ownership.

Vero Beach Hotel and Resort Opens

The town of Vero Beach in Florida is becoming home to another luxury project. We previously saw the Avalon Beach development, now the Vero Beach Hotel and Resort has opened on Ocean Drive. The hotel is a four-story condo-hotel with 83, one, two, and three bedroom suites. The hotel also has a restaurant, spa, private beach club, heated ocean view pool with cabana, pool bar, fitness center and concierge services. Phase One opened this week and includes 50 bedroom suites and the pool. Phase Two should be done in June and brings in the spa, more suites and the restaurant. Now through April 30, stays at the hotel start at $279 and the suites can be bought for prices starting at $795,000.

The Blue Rose Condo Hotel

blue rose condoThe Blue Rose Condominium Hotel Residence in Orlando, Florida is one of the largest condo-hotel projects in the Orlando area. It is a 1,300 unit condo hotel which consists of three towers, a theater, five theme restaurants and a spa. The Blue Rose is located on a private tropical lake and will have one, two, and three-bedroom residences, lofts, studios and penthouses starting from $350,000. All residences come furnished and can be put in a rental pool.

Trump Hawaiian Style

Is Donald Trump planning another Hawaii resort? According to an article in the Honolulu Advertiser, a Florida development firm has purchased beachfront property at the Ko Olina Resort & Marina in order to create a luxury condominium hotel that they want to brand with the Trump name. Crescent Heights is planning a 16-story co-tel with 400 to 500 units on eight acres. They are in preliminary talks with Trump to use his name. The project is expected to be finished in 2008. This is the second project we have heard about at Ko Olina on Oahu in Hawaii. There is also a new luxury high-rise condominium complex that will have an eight-story Beach Tower and a 15-story Ocean Tower.

The Palmyra, Jamaica's Latest Co-tel

In the market for a beachfront co-tel?The Palmyra Resort & Spa at Rose Hall, a new luxury condo hotel in Jamaica will be holding a launch event weekend May 5-7 at the Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort at Rose Hall near Montego Bay. The private event will offer buyers pre-construction pricing and incentives such as a one-week stay at The Palmyra's sister resort in Tuscany, Italy. They are expecting 500 buyers to attend in hopes of selling out of Phase I of the luxury condo hotel. Pre-construction pricing ranges from the $400,000s to $5 million and there are both condo units and villas available.  The co-tel is located on 16 acres of waterfront land in Montego Bay. Like other co-tels the Palmyra will allow owners to place their condos in a rental program.
