Filed under: Estates, Luxury Travel & Hotels

I've become a little skeptical when I hear the words Vegas and condo together in light of recent fallout but Vegas 888 seems to be making a go of it. The 50-floor blue glass tour will feature one, two and three bedroom penthouse suites. The layout is designed for luxury with a massive two-acre pool area, poolside cabanas, a 12,000 square-foot resort spa on the 35th floor and the Riviera Hot Spot, a sunbathing area with day beds, plunge pools and outdoor showers. The building will include its own restaurant and and The Whale club, a Strip-view night club. Condo options include lofts, three-story sky villas or a "high-life" suite and range from 800 square feet to over 10,000 square feet. The two-story lofts have 20 foot ceilings and glass staircases. The condos will also offer something they are calling “blue glove’ service. It is meant to be a step above white glove and will include the services of a private concierge, housekeeping, valet parking, room service and butler service. The entry will feature a waterfall and a large lobby. Prices range from $600,000 to well over $10 million and groundbreaking is set to happen this year. After the jump more pictures of what the building will look like.

Will Miami Condos Go The Way of Vegas?

A large Miami condo project, the 1390 Brickell Bay condominium tower, which was planned to go up near Miami's posh Brickell Avenue, has been scrapped. The 49-story, 364-unit development was 90% sold out but due to labor shortages, increasing building costs and the after effects of a brutal hurricane season, the developer will be returning buyer deposits.  Like Las Vegas, Miami is an area that is seeing more and more luxury condo projects being announced and less that are actually being built. Given the slowly stalling real estate market this may be the beginning of a larger fall out of upcoming condo projects.

Do Luxury Condos Work In Smaller Communities?

We are used to seeing new condo developments in larger cities but will it fly in smaller communities? In the town of Hillsborough, North Carolina, a new condo building is going on sale with $700,000 units. According to this article in the Chapel Hill News, three-bedroom houses still go for $150,000, and bigger homes can be bought for less than $500,000. So why would someone want one of these condos? The five condos will be in the three-story brick Gateway Center and will offer around 2,000 of space. The developer isn’t even sure that they will sell at that price and is thinking of making some of the units smaller so he can sell them for less.

Is Las Ramblas In Trouble Too?

We first started hearing rumblings about the over ambitious condo plans in Las Vegas back in September now it seems that the fallout has begun. First we heard rumors of Ivana Trump’s condo troubles, now it seems that the George-Clooney-backed Las Ramblas could be in peril. The NY Post’s Braden Keil reports that the project may not happen due to the Vegas condo glut. So much for those handsome black-and-white ads of Clooney and Rande Gerber smiling over a few cocktails.
