Henrybuilt Launches Luxe Closet Design

Henrybuilt, the American high-design company known for its sleek, hand crafted lines, has just launched a series of closet designs that will be custom to each client and built to order in the company's Seattle workshop.

Weaving together its trademark modern design with unsurpassed functionality, these "closets" (it seems they should get a new, much fancier name with all the included bells and whistles) feature wooden valet trays, leather-lined storage compartments, hand crafted leather pulls and an integrated lighting system -- so you'll be sure to look as good in whatever's in your closet as the closet itself.

Prices available upon request from Henrybuilt, which has a New York studio in addition to its Seattle shop.

Closet Wine Cellars

Want a wine cellar but don't have a basement or a spare room to dedicate to your love of the grape, Closet Wine Cellars specializes in putting small cellars into a variety of places. You find the room, they'll make it work whether it is a closet, wall or storage space. The systems can be customized to your design style and refrigerated units are available. Their racking system makes it easy to see the labels. The company is based in Southern California, the land of no basements, so they have their work cut out for them. At least, given recent weather, they can start with the coat closet as seems to be the case in the picture here.

Circular Kitchens

Whether you have limited floor space in your home or apartment, or simply like streamlined, practical designs, the Circular Kitchen could be the perfect piece of equipment. In addition to being incredibly useful for organizational purposes, the kitchen frees up a lot of space, allowing you to be more creative with your decorating and room layout.

The kitchen has doors that slide back, not that open into the room, and the core rotates 180 degrees, though the uppers shelves rotate a full 360 degrees to maximize their storage potential The unit includes a stainless steel sink, a waste bin, drawers, its own lighting, electrical sockets, water and waste disposal.  Additional options include a refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, built-in coffee machine, ceramic cooktop with 2 or 4 cook burners, a microwave and a Range hood - so there is nothing that can be found in a standard kitchen that can't be put into this unit. Prices start a $6,500 and go up to $15,000, making it considerably less expensive than some kitchens.

Oprah's Home Improvements

Oprah's $50 million mansion just outside Santa Barbara in Montecito, California, has been nicknamed Oprah's Hearst Castle, due to its size and luxury. The property covers some 42 acres and the house itself is 23,000 square feet. It has 6 bedrooms, 14 bathrooms and, as you might imagine, just about everything else. Some of the improvements Oprah has made since purchasing the house in 2001 include the installation of a massive home theater, building a man-made lake with rare fish and having Montecito sandstone bricks hand-laid in the quarter-mile long driveway. She has also put in a closet the size of an ordinary master bedroom, not for her, but for Stedman to keep what must be a large suit collection.
