La Gloria Cubana Super Roll Cigar Rolling Contest

A torcedor (which literally translates to ‘twister’, is the last thing you should do when rolling a cigar), or cigar roller, is a true artist with tobacco. Knowing all the work it takes to hand roll a cigar, it’s actually quite amazing they don’t cost more then they already do… rolling leaves into themselves, inspecting the best leaf for wrapping and sculpting the cigar to the requested shape. Earlier this month at the annual La Gloria Cuban Super Roll in Las Vegas, rollers got to compete for the top title of torcedor. If you think you have what it takes for future rolling events, sign up is about $500 (training included).

Two Guys Cigar Shop Plans Franchise

The Boston Globe has a piece on the Two Guys Smoke Shop in New Hampshire which recently opened its second store, a franchise in Seabrook, New Hampshire. David Garofalo, one of the original "two guys" is hoping to start a chain of the shops stretching from the Northeast to Florida. The popular cigar store has been in business since 1985 and now does mail order. They started in Massachusetts but but were eventually chased off to tax-free New Hampshire by the Massachusetts cigar tax. The main Two Guys Smoke Shop in Salem, New Hampshire also offers a private club with billiards, baccarat and a cappuccino bar. Two Guys has 22 private labels and also offers a cigar of the month club (four cigars for $20 per month).
