Celebrity Real Estate Round-Up, 2010-- Who's Still On The Market?

The good news is that celebrity homes seem to sell more easily than your average luxury real estate. The bad news is that there a lot of celebrity homes still seeking a new buyer. I dug through my 2010 archives, month by month, to assess the damage and see who is still trying to sell.

Some celebrities including Mel Gibson, have tried a price cut of over a million. Others including Uma Thurman, Ricky Martin and Richard Chamberlain have held their ground and their properties have sat on the market for over six months. Sheryl Crow tried to take the auction route but failed to sell her Tennessee farm.

But of course the biggest celebrity real estate tail of woe for 2010 has to be Nicolas Cage. He managed to sell off his New York apartment and his Las Vegas house but saw two New Orleans homes and his Bel Air mansion fall to foreclosure. His Rhode Island home, shown above, is still on the market for $7.75 million, a far cry from the $15.7 million he paid for it.

A look at every celebrity home listing we covered in 2010 with updated results is after the jump.

10 of the Most Expensive Celebrity Homes on the Market that We Love

Mirror, mirror on the wall. Whose house is the fairest of them all?

Which celebrities have the most expensive properties on the market right now? Let's apologize up front for not including any pocket listings that we don't know about. (In fact, if you'd be so kind as to let us know about them, we'd be most grateful.)

And sorry, but we aren't counting Candy Spelling's Bel-Air listing at an unrealistic $150 million here -- not because it isn't a super property (if overpriced) but because despite her befriending us on Facebook, we still don't quite consider her a celebrity. We're also not including Dennis Hopper's estate, no disrespect intended toward the recently departed but if we opened the cemetery floodgates, there wouldn't be enough room in cyberspace to list them all. And lastly, we're so sick of athletes who misbehave that we'll pass on considering them celebrities for the moment. Overgrown kids maybe, but not celebrities.

So with those caveats, here's the unofficial Luxist list of 10 of our favorite and most expensive celebrity homes on the market.

1) Billy Joel's Sagaponack Village house for $19.9 million. We love love love this beachfront house in Sagaponack Village South that sits on 145 feet of oceanfront. We even loved it when it was first listed at $22.5 million. Classy, elegant, blends with the surroundings. You half expect a seagull to land on you while you stare at the photos. High beamed ceilings, white-washed, New Englandy without the pretensions. It was renovated in 2009 and clearly is a place where great music could be made -- although apparently not between Billy Joel and his soon-to-be-ex wife Katie Lee Joel. Nothing like a divorce to force the issue of liquidating the real estate. And nothing like a recession to keep things from moving. The piano man and his fourth wife also listed the property next door to this one for $12 million. There are some reports it sold in the $10 million vicinity.

Christina Aguilera Drops The Price On Her Hollywood Home

We've been tracking this one for a while. Christina Aguilera has been struggling to sell her home in the Hollywood Hills for several years. Aguilera first put her architecturally splendid West Hollywood home in April 2008 after she and her husband bought the Beverly Hills home of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. The four-bedroom home was listed for $7.995 million but then in October 2008 she cut a quick million off the property reducing it to $6.995 million. It popped off the MLS for a while but the LA Times Hot Property column reports that the property is back with a low price of $6.25 million. Aguilera bought the home in 2003 for $5 million from Steve Hermann who gave the home its gorgeous remodel. The home includes a sumptuous theater room, shiny stainless steel kitchen, beautiful pool area and great space for entertaining. The 1,200-square-foot master bedroom suite has a marble bathroom that includes a tub with a view. The listing is with Hilton & Hyland.

Christina Aguilera In West Hollywood, Estate of the Day

Like her former rival in pop princessdom, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera isn't having the easiest time selling her home. Aguilera first put her architecturally splendid West Hollywood home on the market in April after she and her husband bought the Beverly Hills home of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. The four-bedroom home was listed for $7.995 million but so far no takers and so as the Real Estalker reports, she has cut a quick million off the property reducing it to $6.995 million. There's much to love here, a sumptuous theater room, shiny stainless steel kitchen, beautiful pool area and great space for entertaining. However the home is not family friendly which may be why she is selling and why the home is lingering on the market.

New mom Christina Aguilera is the muse behind the latest collection by London jeweler Stephen Webster. The new Stephen Webster Sterling Collection includes two different lines. The first, called Shattered will feature Aguilera in the advertisements. The collection includes over 50 styles of rings, cuffs, pendants and earrings that have gemstones such as jade, chalcedony, goldstone, hematite and white agate inlaid into silver in designs that are meant to resemble bits of broken stained glass from Gothic church windows. The second collection is called Superstud and is more punk. The Stephen Webster Silver Collection will launch in Switzerland at Baselworld early next month, and will be sold in Neiman Marcus exclusively this spring with a roll-out planned to other stores later. Christina Aguilera To Launch Perfume

Joining the ranks of other celebs who have their own fragrances, Christina Aguilera has just signed a deal with Proctor and Gambol Prestige to create her own signature scent. It wouldn't be a surprise if the perfume turned out to be bold with romantic undertones, matching both Aguilera's personality and her Marilyn-esque looks. From the sound of it, however, the scent has not yet been put together, but it is tentatively scheduled for a release in the fall of this year.

Christina Aguilera Buys A Banksy

The pop artist Christina Aguilera has just dropped £25,000 - that's about $43,500 - on a painting by the British graffiti artist Banksy.  The painting shows the late Queen Victoria, who passed anti-homosexual laws and "famously believed women were incapable of being gay", depicted as a lesbian. Victoria, clad in stockings and garter belt, is painted in a compromising position with another woman. Aguilera plans to display the controversial painting in her home.

The painting is after the jump and is possibly not safe for work.
