A Long Line To Meet Louboutin

Those people hoping to meet Christian Louboutin at his new West Hollywood boutique faced a long line this afternoon. Luckily the Christian Louboutin staff was passing out napkin-wrapped bottles of Perrier with little straws. Men and women stood in line with Louboutin bags and more than a few people we wearing their red-soled beauties.

The two-story boutique.

Even Channel 7 showed up to film the occasion. For the fashionable on Robertson Blvd, Louboutin's arrival is a rock-star event.

Some dressed for comfort but most dressed to impress, with more than a few cocktail dresses in the mix.

Lagerfeld's Library & More from The Selby

the selby book
Fashion and interiors photographer and illustrator Todd Selby is the latest blogosphere star to bring out a book of his work. The cult favorite auteur of The Selby features the eclectic homes and favorite spaces of Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Louboutin, Simon Doonan, Erin Wasson, Helena Christensen and more in The Selby Is In Your Place (Abrams, $35). Lagerfeld's massive library in Paris is particularly astonishing. The book consists of over thirty profiles, most of which have never been seen before, accompanied by Selby's watercolor portraits of the subjects and objects from their homes, and illustrated questionnaires along with the photographs. Cities represented include New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Tokyo, Sydney, and London. Like the site that spawned it, the book is an alluring "insider's view of creative individuals in their personal spaces with an artist's eye for detail."

Sole inspiration: Christian Louboutin to Sign Shoes at his New Hollywood Boutique

Hollywood A-listers and fashion-forward femmes alike have long loved the iconic red sole of Christian Louboutin's heels. But only as of late last year have Hollywood residents been able to peruse his shoes in the way they were meant to be seen - in the boutique home of Louboutin. The 1800-square-foot shop, opened in September 2009, is located on one of West Hollywood's trendiest streets and housed in a historic 1930s building next to the Hollywood Foreign Press Office.

On April 28th, Mr. Loubotuin himself will visit the store to sign his "sole" away to any shopper willing to put down the plastic for a pair. Enjoy champagne and shoe talk from 4 to 7 pm. We'd suggest reserving your favorite style early - the best sizes will sell out fast!

Christian Louboutin Discolilou Sandals

christian louboutin discolilou sandals
Prepare your feet with a relaxing and uplifting pedicure because Louboutin's Discolilou's Sandals are calling your name. The undeniable king of women's most sexy and celebrated heels has done it again. My mouth dropped open when I initially saw his Dillian Heels - a shoe that we previously features and one that I would love to own. And since the Dillian has come out, there has been an over abundance of heels that were "inspired by" it's captivating leather ruffling style. Well this time, Loubotin has captured my heart again with his Discolilou sandals ($895). These heels takes the bare minimum approach by using knotted skinny straps of leather and a gold toned o-ring as it's a single embellishment. While it is a simply designed shoe - lacking Swarovski crystals, exotic leather and all the other bells and whistles that many shoes posses - don't disregard the Discolilou so quickly. The "come hither" high heeled sandals are ultra sexy and its versatility is long lasting, making it a worthy yet pricey investment. They would look fabulous with virtually anything that you wear, but they would be perfect with a sleeveless summer print dress that hits just below the knees.

Danielle Steel Is Christian Louboutin's Biggest Customer

danielle steelWe already envied novelist Danielle Steel for her impressive real estate (the 55-room San Francisco mansion, the apartment in Paris) and her dazzling jewelry collection but now we've got another reason to be jealous of the prolific novelist, it turns out that she's Christian Louboutin's biggest customer. Louboutin himself dishes that when Steel comes to Paris she buys out his store. She is rumored to own more than 6,000 pairs of the red-soled beauties, a number that puts even shoe-crazy Imelda Marcos to shame. In the May issue of Vanity Fair Christian Louboutin also said that he rarely gives shoes away to his celebrity clientiele but he does offer discounts to some high-profile shoppers.

'Dolly Forever Barbie' by Christian Louboutin

Filed under: Shoes, Children, Celebrity Design

Dolly Forever Barbie by Christian LouboutinFirst we had Cat Burglar Barbie, now we have Dolly Forever Barbie, and who only knows what might be coming next (Trapeze Barbie maybe?). Christian Louboutin has truly found his muse in Barbie, "dolling" her up this time in a safari-inspired ensemble featuring a very bright pair of pink fringed knee-high boots, a khaki tunic dress, and darling little pink glasses. Plus of course 3 other pairs of miniature red-soled shoe designs.

She's not available for another couple weeks (look for her to go on sale at Net-a-Porter on March 3rd) and pricing should be right around $150.

Christian Louboutin Lolita Mirror Shoulder Bag, Handbag of the Day

Christian Louboutin Lolita Mirror Shoulder BagThe Christian Louboutin Lolita Mirror Shoulder Bag is a shiny, special bag for a to be seen.

At first, it's hard to tell from the photo what size a bag like this would be. It's actually rather large, at 19"W X 14"H X 4"D, so take note, this is an exceptional attention-grabber. We're not sure why Louboutin decided to call this the "Lolita" bag; if we saw a child with this bag, we'd roll our eyes. It would require a woman of extraordinary style to carry this with class.

In case you think you may be that woman, here are some additional details: Those are double 7" drop goldtone chain straps, and the bag is lined with red satin and includes a small mini-wallet in the same copper-mirror-effect material. While some might attempt to wear this with a casual outfit to downplay its extravagance, we think that might be a mistake. This is a completely fabulous bag, and we'd like to see it with a completely fabulous ensemble (or even a power suit?) on a completely fabulous person. A mirror-effect like this can sometimes look cheap, but trust us, it doesn't when Louboutin does it.

The Christian Louboutin Lolita Mirror Shoulder Bag is available from Saks Fifth Avenue for $995.00.

Christian Louboutin Mia Satin Evening Bag, Handbag of the Day

Christian Louboutin Mia Satin Evening BagThe Christian Louboutin Mia Satin Evening Bag is a simple, elegant bag with enough character to hold its own against your flashiest evening wear.

The clean lines of the bag make it easy to pair with a classic gown or cocktail dress, and it's simple enough to be carried by even a very young lady.

Inside this little (8"W X 6"H X 2½"D) bag, you will find a shock of bright, peachy-red satin, as well as the traditional logo plate and a small pocket. The delicate, yet durable goldtone chain has an adjustable 22" drop, and complements the conservative shape of the other shiny hardware, including the classic Louboutin heels, upside-down when the clasp is closed and folded, as pictured.

We'd love to see this matched with a highly structured dress, one which mirrors the line of the hardware with its seams. Still, there's something youthful enough about the glamour of this bag to make it an easy and appropriate go-to for a night on the town.

The Christian Louboutin Mia Satin Evening Bag is available from Saks Fifth Avenue for $995.00.

Christian Louboutin Swarovski Clutch Handbag
The iridescent Strass Swarovski-embellished clutch by Christian Louboutin skillfully blends soft angles and a flexible, supple frame with the hard edges of finely cut crystals arranged in tightly packed rows. There's not a single visible surface, save the bright red lining, that isn't covered in beautiful Swarovski bling. Sure to catch the light, the attention, and the envy of every woman in the room. Zip-top closure, Louboutin's signature shoe-shaped zipper pull encrusted in crystals, and an internal pouch pocket round out this clutch. 10" x 4" x 1", $2,495

'Cat Burglar Barbie' by Christian Louboutin

Cat Burglar Barbie by Christian Louboutin
Not sure what kind of message this sends, that women dream of stealing Louboutins or that Louboutins are good to go stealing in, but either way Cat Burglar Barbie is a fun collectible because not only does she look awesome but for once she gets to do something totally taboo. Barbie's red hair, green eyes, and skin-hugging black bodysuit are only outdone by her dazzling pair of gold Differa sandals. She also comes with three additional pairs of mini-Louboutins: Miss ankle boots, Claudia peep toes, and Altameche knee-high boots, each with their own shoe bag and box. It's all packaged together in a brown designer box complete with a copy of Barbie's travel journal chronicling her adventures with Christian Louboutin. Limited edition, $150.

Red sequins mix with silver ones in various shades from light to dark in an unpredictable pattern that looks like dancing shadows and light. Silvertone hardware and the signature Louboutin shoe-shaped kisslock closure. A perfect way to dress up your favorite LBD for a night out on the town any time of year. $995

Christian Louboutin Candy Pumps

When it comes to shoes, we at Luxist, and I think it's safe to say as well as every other woman in the world, love everything that Christian Louboutin creates, until perhaps today. I'm certainly not familiar with every shoe by Louboutin, but it seems as though the Candy Pumps are a far cry from the well balanced and instinctively sexy design that make women spend most of their money on his shoes. Made with ostrich leather and interestingly accented with lace along the side, gold tone studs at the cap toe with grosgrain detailing and bow as the finishing touch – the Candy Pumps are unique to say the least. Price: $965.
