Night Owl Nightlight Rugs

One shows an owl perched on a tree during the day (orange) and one shows him at night (navy), but both of these Night Owl Baby Zoo Rugs have nightlights built into them. These rugs are 100% virgin wool and are colored with natural vegetable dyes, so they are durable, soft and safe to have around kids. The floor light runs on 3 AA batteries and matches the rugs' coloring. They're $500 each, but that seems like a small price to pay to alleviate fears of the monster under the bed. Think about it: to a child, whatever it costs to get rid of the boogieman is worth it. He's a scary guy.

Mini Mies

A few months ago, Matthew mentioned that a Barcelona Chair, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, is a must have for the well-turned out home or apartment. It is also a great way to relax if you have room in your office. Now, your budding young executive can have his (or her) very own classically-styled chair: a Mini Mies. The Mini Mies is built to exactly 2/3 scale of the full sized chair, but shares the stainless steel frame and luxuriously soft leather. It comes in black ($3,900) and white ($4,400) and is available for order from Genius Jones.

Brangelina Baby Pic Sold for $4.9M

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have reportedly sold the rights to the first picture of their as-yet-unborn child for $4.9 million (£2.6 million) to an unnamed American weekly magazine. The money will be donated to the children's charity, UNICEF. Knowing that the paparazzi are likely to try to snap pictures of the baby as soon after it is born as possible, the couple "figured they might as well use the opportunity of one child being born to help a lot of others." Angelina's due date is supposed to be in early June.

M-5.5 Playhouse by Gregg Fleishman

This module-style M-5.5 Playhouse is made of 1/2-inch thick birch plywood panels that are 28-inches square. With 85 pieces to work with, the fort of any child's dreams can be made easily. The playhouse, designed by Gregg Fleishman, assembles by hand without the need for tools; the pieces snap together securely and will support almost any geometric construction. It comes in a natural, weather-resistant finish and has smooth edges, which are safe for children. Think of it as being the largest, most stylish set of Lincoln logs you've ever seen. Price: $18,000.
