Cafe 676 Opens In Chicago
There's a new option for outdoor dining in Chicago. Cafe 676, which just opened, is located at Huron and North Michigan in front of the Omni Chicago Hotel which is already home to the 676 Restaurant and Bar.. The fare focuses on local purveyors and menu items will change by season. The menu consists of light snacks, starters, entree salads and specialty sandwiches and seasonal smoothies using local fruits and vegetables are available. Chef Daven Wardynski's food philosophy is "Midwest and Local Whenever Possible." He works with local farmers and also has a roof-top garden located directly above the hotel. The chef tends the garden and its produce shows up in items like Spence Farm Sweet Corn Soup, Strawberry Salad and Miller Farm Chicken Salad Sandwich. He also has a beehive at another location and harvests honey to use in items like 676 Prairie Honey Ice Cream, garnished with honey caramel and a cinnamon and sugar crunch, Prairie Honey Vin atop the Michigan Apple Salad and house-made honey mustard.
"At Cafe 676, we want to provide patrons with an upscale, downtown Chicago cafe that offers a place to relax within the urban jungle," said Chef Wardynski. "Our ultimate goal is to create an atmosphere which is natural and organic through its preparation, presentation and table service."
Cafe 676 is open is daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and reservations are not accepted. For more information, visit 676restaurant.com or call 312-944-7676.
