The Either-Or Dish Set

This Either-Or Dish Set by by troels seidenfaden for magppie and available from Unica Home is insanely simple considering it's designed to serve two very different purposes: beautiful candle-lit centerpiece or classic serving dish. Made of sleek, tough, and timeless stainless steel, the set consists of three bowls, three tea light holders that double as lids, and a specially-shaped tray designed to hold them all in elegant style. A high-quality and uber-useful party staple for yourself, plus it could make a great gift for the friend or hostess who already seems to have everything. $158

Harry Allen Banana Bowl

Wow. The minute I saw this I just knew I had to share it, if it only because it's soooooo ugly! It just goes to show that not everything expensive is classy, right? Now of course there's a small chance that I'm way off base here and that the majority of people out there think this Harry Allen Banana Bowl is a beautiful work of art, so if that's you then don't mind me! If I ever see this in someone's home I'm totally just going to respect their edgy and gutsy taste in decor!

Made of resin and plated in gold, no worries if you love it but need a different color -- 2 other options (chrome and white) are available. $120-$350

A Moon Bowl

I realize there's a close association between the two, but this Moon Bowl definitely reminds me more of swiss cheese than it does the moon. This creation is white glazed porcelain and would make a beautiful centerpiece, and I can't help but think a great fruit bowl because of the obvious air circulation. Don't load it too full, though, or you'll miss out on the play of light and shadows. And whatever you use it for it should be a regal purpose because at 195,00 € it's a pretty pricey purchase!

Lugano Candelabra

Give us a modular piece of decor, be it shelving, furniture sets, sofas or flooring, and we will be a very well satisfied group. Well satisfied, that is, until we come across another piece that we love and at the moment, that piece is the Lugano Candelabra. The candelabra is made up of four modular candlesticks that can be used as a group in a variety of different combinations, but can also be used individually or in pairs. Each cast metal candleholder has a polished nickle finish and measures 3" x 3" x 10". The set includes four smokeless, dripless ivory candles. Price: $98.

Chorus Candelabra

The Chorus Candelabra is almost a bit sensual in its appearance, with branches flowing out in a way that you wouldn't expect to find on ordinary candelabra. It is made of die-cast zinc with a matte chrome finish, which will reflect light without blinding anyone that catches a flame at the wrong angle.

Due to the facts that it is fairly simple and primarily extends upwards (6.5" x 6.5" x 9", not including candles), as opposed to reaching out, this could easily be used as a centerpiece without getting in anyone's way, as large flower displays and more ostentatious candle holders tend to do. Price: $99.

The Ultimate Centerpiece

Ice sculptures, wine decanters and even table jewels are nothing compared to the table centerpiece unearthed at Autoblog. The display features a bright green Lamborghini Gallardo balanced atop four teacups in front of the William Ashley store in Toronto to promote a contest for a set of fine China -- the very same China supporting the 3,153-lb. vehicle. We're still wondering why they aren't including the car in the contest, since performance vehicles generally have very little to do with tableware, even though we wouldn't object if given the chance to have such a centerpiece at our own table.

Click past the jump for a closer look at the teacups holding up the car.

Ercuis Wine Decanting Machine

Rather than using a vase full of flowers to decorate your table, you can turn your wine service into your centerpiece with the Ercuis Wine Decanting Machine. The beautiful gadget looks like a relic from a different area, one which would have been proudly displayed to all guests. It is made of silver-plated steel with a black wooden base. Price: $270.

Ice Centerpiece Molds

While the Cool Ice Jewels are a nice touch of icy bling for drinks, sometimes something a bit larger is needed to really add flash to a party. Ice sculptures are nice, but they take lots of planning. It's so much easier just to make one at home using an ice mold. Simply fill up the mold and use it as a centerpiece, filled with candles or flowers, or as a serving bowl for fruits and ice creams. Just like a full-blown ice sculpture, it will catch the eyes of all your guests, like a giant diamond on the table. Use food colorings to add jewel-like colors to the tablescape, or freeze flowers or fruits right into the mold. Price: $29.99.
