Eddie Murphy's Ex-Wife Nicole Deep In Debt

We've been following the real estate dealings of Eddie Murphy's ex-wife Nicole for a while. This week the National Enquirer reported that Nicole is deep in debt after spending the $15 million settlement she received from Eddie when they divorced in 2006. The story says that the IRS has hit her with five tax liens totally $846,630.

We've seen her Calabasas mansion on and off the market since 2007. Most recently when we made it an estate of the day back in 2009 it was listed at $8.495 million but a quick peek at the MLS shows that it is now listed at just $5.95 million. The Enquirer says that Murphy owes $5 million on her Los Angeles-area home. She also gets child support payments from Eddie Murphy. She has started a business called Friendship, Love and Peace and currently dates former NFL player Michael Strahan.

Eddie Murphy is also still trying to sell off a home that has been on the market for a long time. His New Jersey home, Bubble Hill, was once priced at $30 million but is now down to $12.75 million.

Maurice Bernard in the Hollywood Hills, Estate of the Day

Having a steady gig in Hollywood seems to leave to leave certain soap opera actors plenty of time for home renovation. Earlier this year we took a look at the home of Peter Reckell and now we're checking out the Los Angeles home of another long-term soap opera stud, General Hospital's Maurice Benard. Benard has had a solid gig since 1993 playing mob boss Sonny Corinthos but in real life he and his wife Paula are avid home remodelers. The LA Times Hot Property column reports that the home the pair has currently listed is one they bought in 2007 to live in while remodeling their larger primary residence. According to records on PropertyShark.com they paid $1.25 million.

The LA Times article says that the couple decided to make a few alterations to the Hollywood Hills home and nearly ended up rebuilding the whole thing. The four-bedroom Mediterranean was built in 1956 but has been given a very modern redo that includes a great room with pitched ceilings, a stacked stone fireplace and slate floors leading to an open kitchen. The four-bedroom home includes a lower level master suite with large his/her walk-in closets, sitting areas and French doors that open to the private yard and views. The Benards like to entertain and also built a covered patio entertainment area with an outdoor kitchen and a flatscreen television but there is no pool. The home is listed at $1.55 million.

A "Real Housewife's" Virginia Home, Estate of the Day

I've been long convinced that the "Real Housewives" shows are a real estate agent's dream. Every season on each show at least one of the housewives seems to be selling a home. The latest version, the "Real Housewives of D.C." recently premiered and we've already got our first real estate listing, the home of Rich and Mary Amons. Amons doesn't live in Washington D.C. She and her husband Rich have a large home in McLean, Virginia that is now up for sale.

Their home is a six-bedroom modern Colonial built in 1939. It's been given a renovation and expansion that has brightened and widened the spaces including the open kitchen with a center island. The home is fashionably outfitted with sisal rugs, animal hides and bright pop art. The couple has five children and many of the bedrooms are decorated to reflect the taste and styles of the kids. Other details include a family room with built-ins and floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace and a lovely sunroom that opens out to the patio. The master bedroom suite has a private deck and there is a third level loft with full bath. This home is listed at $2.35 million.

Russell Brand Sells His Bachelor Pad

russell brandIt looks like Russell Brand has finally unloaded his English bachelor pad. A recent article in The Mirror sent me to peep over at the listing which now bears a sold banner. We first looked at Brand's luxury bachelor pad in November of last year when he put it up for sale. Brand is set to marry pop star Katy Perry and has a growing movie career in the U.S. with roles in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and "Get Him To The Greek." He is currently at work on a remake of "Arthur" taking on the role of a drunken, rich layabout that Dudley Moore made famous. Brand and Perry have been spotted house shopping in New York City.

Brand's former bachelor pad in Hampstead is a Victorian home renovated in a hiply goth style. The home has five levels and features dark flocked wallpaper, large televisions and modern furniture. An entire room is given over to Brand's love of yoga and the plush black and silver master bedroom is exactly what you might from this self-confessed sex addict. The home also includes a media room, outdoor hot tub and a top floor bedroom suite which currently serves as an office. It was listed at £2.5 million.

Nic Cage's Bel-Air Home Back On The Market

The vintage Tudor-style home in the Bel Air area of Los Angeles formerly owned by Nicolas Cage is back on the market. Earlier this month the home went up for auction and, with no bidders, went back to the bank. Cage had bought the home in 1998 from Tom Jones for $6.469 million and it was also owned by Dean Martin. At the time of the auction total debt owed on the house was said to be $18 million and in the past Cage had tried to sell it for as much as $35 million. Now the home is listed with Westside Estate Agency for just $12.75 million. Fresh listing pictures reveal that the home has had a crazyectomy. All of Cage's inveterate wackiness has been stripped from the home. Walls and floors are bare and even some of the light fixtures appear to be missing. Wihout Cage's belongings inside the home may finally find its buyer.

Christina Aguilera Drops The Price On Her Hollywood Home

We've been tracking this one for a while. Christina Aguilera has been struggling to sell her home in the Hollywood Hills for several years. Aguilera first put her architecturally splendid West Hollywood home in April 2008 after she and her husband bought the Beverly Hills home of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. The four-bedroom home was listed for $7.995 million but then in October 2008 she cut a quick million off the property reducing it to $6.995 million. It popped off the MLS for a while but the LA Times Hot Property column reports that the property is back with a low price of $6.25 million. Aguilera bought the home in 2003 for $5 million from Steve Hermann who gave the home its gorgeous remodel. The home includes a sumptuous theater room, shiny stainless steel kitchen, beautiful pool area and great space for entertaining. The 1,200-square-foot master bedroom suite has a marble bathroom that includes a tub with a view. The listing is with Hilton & Hyland.
