Casio's latest special edition women's watch is this special Baby-G piece made in collaboration with fashion brand Married to the Mob by Leah McSweeney. Casio's durable G-Shock and more feminine Baby-G collection of pieces have proved to be highly malleable designs when it comes to creating special models.

Fashion designer Married to the Mob is an energetic urban themed clothing and fashion brand for young women who thrive on asserting their unconventional sides with hip, rebellions looks. According to McSweeney, there had been demand for a special Married to the Mob themed Baby-G watch for some time. Produced in limited quantities, the Married to the Mob Baby-G watch is based on the existing Casio ref. BG5600 line and is here called the BG5600MOB-4. It has a metallic pink/purple design with Married to the Mob branding on it. The LCD screen is done in a silvered style, while the gold toned case back has the signature Married to the Mob "lips" logo
engraved on it. Further Married to the Mob (MTTM) branding is on the strap. It is a very fun looking watch that will appeal to brand enthusiasts as well as others who enjoy the power purple look on the case and strap.

The watch itself has a series of functions found in most Baby-G watches including the time, calendar, stopwatch, alarms, world time, and more. The watch will be available at select Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, and Macy's stores starting about now for the price of $99.

Over the summer Casio announced a limited edition version of their G-Shock Frogman watch in honor of the 40th Anniversary of Tokyo FM. Casio is known to make limited edition watches all the time, many of them are highly sought after collectibles. Casio chose famous Japanese pop artist Takashi Murakami to design the watch. Built on the Casio GWF-100TM watch, Murakami chose a pinkish-red for the case and strap material. The back of the watch has a signature Murakami flower design, while the watch comes on a pillow designed by him. Here is the official product page.

The base G-Shock Frogman watch is probably the most expensive G-Shock that Casio makes costing over $1,000. It is a highly sophisticated model in terms of extra durability with a metal inner case and lots of functions. This limited edition of 300 pieces that came out a few months ago arrived with a retail price of 300,000 Yen - which is just over $3,600 right now. In fact, I saw at least two pieces of this watch on eBay at the time of writing that where going for a whopping $12,500. Limited edition watches always go for more than the watches they are based on, but not that many of them retain collector's value after they are sold. Some models do in fact remain highly sought after collectibles. This model is lucky to combine love for G-Shock watches, the Tokyo FM radio station, and Takashi Murakami's work (he is also the host of a show on the network I believe).

Halloween may be over our shoulders at this point, but autumn is in full swing with the colors to match. A perfect compliment to fall moods is this metallic orange colored Casio Baby-G watch (ref. BG1006SA-4B). Baby-G is a long standing collection of female themed G-Shock watches. Smaller and more feminine, Baby-G watches are very durable and fun - as well as not very expensive. The new collection for fall features colors such as black and pink, lime and aquamarine, orange and black, and more.

The watches are cutesy versions of the male classic, and contain much of the functionality expected in the line. Among other features, the watches are water resistant to 200 meters, have stopwatches, word time zones, alarms, full calendars, and more. The collection also has retro-style crystal guards that were quite popular back in the 80s. Not that I wear women's watches, but my favorite is this orange and black model - it reminds me of Halloween and pumpkin pie all at the same time. Digital picture frames are old news but Casio has put a new spin on it with the Digital Art Frame recently unveiled at CES. The10.2-inch, WSVGA color LCD frame has a series of special effects that can transform snapshots into pieces that look like paintings.Users can create up to eight different styles of art from a photo: Water Color Painting, Color Pencil Sketch, Pastel Painting, Pointillism, Air Brush, Oil Painting, Gothic Oil Painting, and Fauvist Oil Painting. The device has 2GB of internal memory, two SD cards slots, a USB output, and wireless LAN connectivity. It will be available this spring but the price hasn't been announced yet. For any active minded woman who likes a little attention, it is hard to admit you don't like this watch. Yes, it is true that blingy Casio watches are a hot item of choice among Hip Hop elite, but there is a certain charm and allure to them that is hard to explain. I feel as though it is the gilding of an object that you would easily wear without the gilding.

Here is a relatively inexpensive way to get a nice looking wintry watch from Casio with a little "extra" on it. In addition to the famous Baby-G line of watches, there is also the G-Shock Mini collection of watches for women (don't ask me the differences between the two, cause I don't rightly know). This G-Shock Mini Deco-G Watch is covered in a mask of hand-selected Swarovski crystals, against a white case and strap, with a metallic pink dial. The case design is much more refined and chic than many of the visually more complex women's G-Shock watches out there, but it still retains all the functions you'd expect.

Displayed right on the dial is the time and date, as well is indicators for things like day light saving, alarm, and more. Other functions include a 48 city world timer, stopwatch, countdown timer, 5 daily alarms, and an awesome backlight. The watch is also 100 meters water resistant, and highly shock resistant. I've known about blingy G-Shock watches for a while, but I didn't know just how popular they were. You'll go ahead and make your own value (or taste) judgment about these watches, but I am more amused than impressed. While they aren't the only ones doing so, Z-Shock modifies Casio G-Shock watches with precious metal cases (silver, gold, and platinum) that are studded with diamonds, other precious gems, or cubic zirconium (depending on what you want to spend of course). The above watches are from the Z-Shock "Presidential Collection," including "the President" and "the Vice President." You'll notice for the most part, the watches are still the basic utilitarian Casio G-Shock models we are all familiar with. However, the plastic cases are removed and replaced with precious gem-studded metals. The large backlight button, pushers, and resin straps are all "stock." There is something unnatural about the look frankly - as I would have preferred at least some strap upgrades.

The pleasure of owning your own Z-Shock customized Casio will run you about $2,800 and up. Opt for gold or platinum and real diamonds, and your bargain yard duty watch easily pushes $10,000 and beyond. Either this watch is gold making Casio look bad, or Casio making gold look bad.
