The Cannonball Run Rat Race, A New Recipe For Cross-Country Mayhem
Filed under: Luxury Travel & Hotels, Events
The Cannonball Run is back with a new concept, the Rat Race, a combination road race and treasure hunt. The new version of a cross-country adventure will take place this September. It all starts with a pre-launch party September 2, 2011 in downtown New York. Cars take off on September 3 and are provided with mission packs along with a key. The objective of this event is to crack a master code, the code gives you access to a locker. Crack all six codes from each checkpoint to reveal the location of the hidden locker. The locker containing the cash prize will be concealed in a secret location along the west coast. Inside is a briefcase full of cash. How much cash? They aren't saying yet but the cash is just the added incentive to spend a week on the road, driving all day and partying every night. Each night the Canonballers will stay in four or five star luxury hotels. The rally will conclude on September 9 with a final night party hosted at the Ritz Carlton, Laguna Beach. The entry cost of $8,995 covers accommodations; full track day access; VIP pass to all parties; final night party including accommodation; evening meals with drinks; breakfasts; car decals and even taxes. You are on your own for gas, insurance and any fines you might earn along the way. Entries are limited to 60 cars for the 2011 event. More info is on the website, a video which offers a glimpse at the madness is after the jump.
