Perini Navi Launches 50-Meter Exuma

Italian shipyard Perini Navi may be best known for their sailing yachts, but after the acquisition of Cantieri Navali Beconcini in La Spezia, the megayacht concern has added the capacity for motor yachts as well. The Spezia yard has been rechristened Picchiotti, and has just launched its first new vessel on the 4th of July.
Named Exuma, the 50-meter (164-foot) aluminum yacht is designed around a Briand Optimized Stretched (BOS) Hull, giving it a 500 gross tonnage capacity and relatively shallow draft, a particularly attractive trait for its owners who have specified the vessel for exploration, equipping it with scooters, amphibious landing craft, hovercraft tenders, jet skis and diving equipment.
Exuma is the first of three 50-meter yachts to be commissioned in Picchiotti's Vitruvius range. The launch event was a three-day celebration in La Spezia, for which BMW Italy provided a pair of X6 Hybrids to shuttle guests to and from the shipyard.
