For the next couple of weeks we will be checking out some homes in the most expensive zip codes in the United States, up today, 94920 . This zip code is in the Bay Area of Northern California encompassing Tiburon and Belvedere. This wealthy seaside enclave has a median price of $2,192,000 and a healthy appreciation rate of 282% since 1990. We've highlighted a variety of homes in the area before including the Belvedere home belonging to businessman Tom Perkins and Andre Agassi's Tiburon estate.

Tiburon incorporates most of the TIburon Peninsula in Marin County, California and the city of Belvedere occupies the south-east part of the peninsula. The most expensive estate in this zip code is an 8.5 acre estate listed at $38.5 million. The home I chose for today's example is a less pricey but very charming. The compound on the water includes a main house and a two-bedroom guest house, a smaller one-bedroom boat house and there is a one-bedroom, one-bath au pair suite above the three-car garage. The home with gorgeous seaside views is listed at $11.5 million.

--Actor Josh Randall and his wife, actress Claire Rankin sold their Paul Williams-designed cottage in the Hancock Park area for slightly more than $800,000 and traded up to a  three-bedroom Colonial Revival in the same areas for around $1 million.
--Michelle Pfeiffer and her husband, writer-producer David E. Kelley, have put their Oahu compound on the market for  $12.9 million. The home on Lanikai Beach has 140 feet of beach frontage, a 1930's vintage cottage and separate guest quarters as well as a pool house. Check out the listing here.
--Hong Kong film star, Maggie Quigley has picked up a Studio City home for about $2.23 million.
--Production designer Barry Robison has put his Bel-Air home on the market for $959,000. What does nearly $1 million get you in Bel Air? Only about 1200 square feet, two bedrooms and one bath. The listing is here.

--Writer J.K. Rowling has rented a two-story mansion in the Hamptons in mid-August for $150,000.
--Another writer, Salman Rushdie, has been spotted checking out 485 Fifth Ave., the former offices of Tommy Hilfiger which have gone condo.
--It's nearly time to check out the  34th Annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House which is the five-story townhouse owned by Jacqui Safra and Jean Doumanian and still for sale for $55 million.

One of the great things about playing around on the Realtor.com website is the handy dandy estimated mortgage payments feature. Your monthly on the beauty shown here would be an astounding $148,556. This castle-like home is in the Orange County, California enclave of Laguna Beach. This castle-like home is approximately 10,000 square feet with six bedrooms.  It looks older but it is actually new construction and sits on 2.2 acres. The Craftsman style home has direct access to a private beach. Other details include three kitchens, a movie theater, wine cellar, pool, guest quarters and a cabana area. The listing only has one interior listing but it's enough to give a sense of the scale of this home. At $31.5 million it is currently the most expensive home listed in the area.
