The word that comes to mind to describe this Ruffled Calfskin Clutch by Loeffler Randall is "cute." That's not something designers often aim for and whether that was intended here or not I have no idea, but everybody decides that sort of thing individually anyway. Made of smooth calfskin, this pudgie little bag is a mix of feminine ruffles and hard geometric stud detailing. Gold metal hardware and black leather make for a classic color scheme, which is even further enhanced by the gold metallic textile lining. $520

Botkier bags are designed by Monica Botkier, a former fashion photographer who was looking for a stylish bag that was big enough to hold all her equipment. She had no idea that the Trigger Bag she created would launch her into a permanent place in the world of handbag design, with fans like Sarah Jessica Parker and Gwyneth Paltrow. This ocean-blue satchel is the Lexi Bag, a top-handled bag with plenty of hidden pockets and compartments to tuck away everything from keys to cellphones. It is made of soft, supple calfskin which, in Botkier style, is durable and long lasting. The metal studs on the strap make it seasonal, but with a bag this functional and easy to carry, it won't get relegated to the back of the closet any time in the near future. The Dior Gaucho Double Saddle Bag is definitely an eye-catcher. Not only is the bag a hot item this season due to its charming vintage western look, but to its flashy antiqued silver hardware and accessories. Each bag has two pairs of "1947" Christian Dior medallions and large old-fashioned keys dangling from both the front buckle and the strap. 1947 is a significant year for the designer because it marks the debut of the very first Dior collection, a collection which introduced the "New Look" of tight waists and long, fitted skirts. Getting back to the Gaucho, the flaps of the bag lift up to reveal interior compartments on either side of the purse, including a pocket just the right size for a cell phone, and seal with magnetic clasps. The bag is available in both dark red and in white, which has more noticeable contrast stitching on the soft, washed calfskin leather. Price: $1,995.
