Updated Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Leaks Ahead of Geneva Debut

Like the new C-Class Coupe, the updated Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG sports sedan wasn't supposed to appear before the Geneva Motor Show. But though the exposition is still over a month away, the car has found its way onto the internet.

Updated for the new model year, the C63 is distinguished by two major changes: one is the revised styling with new headlights, tail-lights and LED daytime running lights, new 18-unch wheels and upgrade brakes. Second is the new seven-speed multi-clutch transmission for smoother and faster shifts. It remains mated to the 6.2-liter V8 engine with its 451 horsepower (or 481 with the optional performance package).

Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Affalterbach Edition exclusive to Canada

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

Mercedes-Benz is offering a special edition of its all-conquering C63 AMG sports sedan exclusive to the Canadian market, and it is a tempting piece of kit to be sure. Called the Affalterbach edition, it's named after the headquarters of the Mercedes performance vehicles division. Not that the "standard" C63 AMG needed much improvement, but this special edition is further distinguished by a special Magno Allanite Grey paint job with 19-inch black alloys, red brake calipers, carbon-fiber door mirror housings and a front lip spoiler.

AMG has also fitted the Performance Package as standard, giving the Affalterbach edition 481 horsepower for a 4.4-second sprint to 62 miles per hour – 100 km/h in Canadian metric terms. The interior has likewise been distinguished by black Nappa leather upholstery with contrasting red stitching and carbon fiber trim. Only 30 examples will be made, selling at CDN $81,500 apiece if you can get your hands on one.

The special SLS AMG supercar, meanwhile, has been decked out in matte black with red accents, giving it a decidedly racier look. The two were unveiled specially for Australia, which stands as Mercedes' fifth largest market worldwide. And while they may be one-off creations, AMG will likely prepare yours the same way... for a price.

Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG DR 520

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

Think the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is powerful enough? With 460 horses under the hood, it'd be hard to surmise otherwise. But feast your eyes on the new DR 520.

A special limited edition for the British market, the DR 520 is the product of the Mercedes Specialist Products Division headquartered at the legendary Brooklands race track in England. It benefits from a 60-horse boost to a dyno-rated 520 – hence the name. The package is completed by matte black or white finish, titanium-finish wheels and chrome, and the AMG Performance Pack Plus with upgraded brakes and engine components.

Only 20 examples will be made in either sedan or wagon body-styles, each carrying a £10k premium over stock at £62,430 or £63,680 respectively.

Renntech Claims Two World Records For Tuned Mercedes-Benz CL65 and C63 AMG [w/video]

Looking over the pantheon of fast cars around the world, Mercedes-Benz and its AMG-tuned models are nearly always somewhere near the top when it comes to quickly accelerating machines. But there's always room for improvement, right? Enter Renntech, the Florida-based tuning company that's been eking more and more power from the German automaker's wares for over 20 years.

Renntech just informed us of two new world records that its vehicles were able to set, the first by a customer and his CL65. The powerhouse machine used its ECU/TCU upgrade, ram air system, intercooler upgrade, high-flow exhaust and limited-slip differential to good effect, hitting a quarter mile pass of 10.62 seconds at 133.7 miles per hour to earn the title of the World's Fastest CL65.

Next up was Renntech owner Hartmut Feyhl, who's modified C63 (using unknown and under-development prototype products, says Renntech) ran down the quarter in 11.6 seconds at 125.3 mph. That impressive showing was enough to earn Feyhl the Worlds Quickest Trap Speed recorded for the C63. Congrats on the effort, Renntech. Click past the break to watch a video of the record-setting CL65 as it streaks down the track.

Mercedes-Benz Releases SLS-Inspired C63 AMG

Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Performance Package Plus - Click above for high-res image gallery

Question: What's hotter than a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG? Well, that would be the new C63 AMG with Performance Package Plus, of course. The new super sedan from Daimler gets a 30-horsepower injection over the standard AMG model, pushing the pony count all the way to 487 – just a baker's dozen shy of the race-spec C-Class DTM model. Watch out, Caddy.

Modifications to the 6.3-liter V8 engine include new forged alloy pistons borrowed from the SLS AMG supercar and a new set of crank rods coupled with a lightweight crankshaft. A titanium-colored intake manifold and recalibrated computer module complete the package. Performance? How about zero to 62 in just 4.4 seconds and naught to 125 in under 14? Yeah, that'll do nicely.

An upgraded brake package with composite rotors is included to help the driver reign in all that speed, and Mercedes says the new PPP will be available on both the sedan and – get this – wagon bodystyles. Exterior modifications are limited to a carbon fiber spoiler for the sedan, and the interior is upgraded with an AMG steering wheel in nappa leather and seats swathed in Alcantara. No word yet on whether this beast is headed Stateside, but sales are scheduled to start in Europe before the end of the year. Hit the jump for the official press release and check out the two high-res images in our gallery below.
