Paul Picot C-Type Watch For Women

Paul Picot C-Type Watch
The Paul Picot C-Type is a very under-recognized sport watch, and now it is also a very under-recognized sport watch for women. Sad that more people won't ever see or hear of this watch because it is pretty nifty. Coming in mostly white, the C-Type for the ladies is 32mm wide in a steel case with large rotating diver's style bezel and a mother-of-pearl dial. The face of the watch also has a series of diamond hour makers. The transition between sport and chic in smooth - Paul Picot does femme activity watches well in my opinion.

Inside the watch is a Swiss automatic mechanical movement and it has a domed sapphire crystal. Like any good diver's watch, the C-Type is water resistant to 300 meters. When you are tired of the gleaming white look of it, you can swap out the white rubber checkerboard patterned strap for a black one.

Paul Picot C-Type 48mm Helium Valve Watch

Paul Picot C-Type 48mm Helium Valve Watch
New for 2010 the Paul Picot C-Type watch collection gets a new addition with this titanium version with a helium release valve and some hip new dial colors. The 48mm wide Paul Picot C-Type 48mm Helium Valve watch is a big one, but with a very good style. There are actually two versions, one with the titanium bezel you see here, and one with a PVD black coated titanium bezel. I would opt for the latter given titanium's propensity to scratch combined with the "first line of defense" placement of a bezel. The PVD coating ought to add a little bit of scratch resistance.

The images here is still a render. Paul Picot amusingly took an actual photograph of the C-Type watch case and hand drew in the dial. You don't see that very often as such renders are usually completely computer created. I've always appreciated the smooth angularity of the C-Type watches. That look is retained here with lots of straight lines and edges. You can also appreciate the watch's unique look among other functional themed dive-style watches. The case is 300 meters water resistant with a built in helium escape valve. Seems rather odd that this less-than-commonly-used feature would be advertised right on the dial. The light slate colored dial is pretty, especially with the yellow and red highlights. The hour markers and hands are applied with SuperLumiNova. The new C-Type watch comes on a rubber strap with that cool repeating square pattern with a titanium clasp. You can get the strap in black, or yellow (for the brave).

Inside the watch is a Swiss ETA Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph movement. Each version of the Paul Picot C-Type 48mm Helium Valve watch (with or without PVD bezel) will be limited to just 500 pieces. Price is $7,590.

2009 Mille Miglia to Highlight Classic Jaguars

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos, Events, The Classicist

Jaguar holds dear one of the richest of heritages in the automotive industry, and a not insignificant part of that history was forged at the Mille Miglia, one of the most grueling of races that took place between 1927 to 1957 through the Italian countryside between Brescia and Rome. Today the event is a revival of the iconic race of yore, and to celebrate its role in the original Mille Miglia, Jaguar is returning to the event with a convoy of some of its most treasured classics.

Included among the Jaguar factory team will be a long-nose D-Type, four C-Types and an original Mark VII sedan, some of which contested the race in the 50's. Jaguar's legendary test driver Norman Dewis, now in his 80's, will be participating, along with a fleet of modern XKRs and XFRs which Jaguar is sending along as support vehicles for the event, which takes place next month from May 13-17.
