King Edward's Abdication Buick on the Auction Block
Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos, Auctions

The 1934 Buick that Kind Edward VIII drove to announce his abdication of the British throne will be on the auction block December 3rd. It is expected to go for more than $50,000 pounds (just over $100,000 dollars) at the London based auction. The American built vehicle was ordered from a London dealer in 1935 and fitted with custom designed silver-gilt cigarette boxes. Unfortunately, it was King Edward VIII's for only a few years as his abdication came in December of 1936 and the car stayed in his possession for a few years following.
