The Sexy Brazilian Polo Player's Secret Weapon

Filed under: Gadgets, Celebrity Shopping, Sports

World class polo player / model Paula Chermont (right), who fields her own womens polo team in her native Brazil, has become a spokesmodel for D-MIX, the world's first all-in-one liquid power mix which looks more like a sleek space-age gadget than an energy booster.

The newly-debuted 1 oz. black capsules contain a patented powerful blend of essential vitamins, antioxidants and energy formula that can be dispensed as needed, lasting up to four days (or 30 servings). The design adds a much needed touch of luxury to a market filled with horrible looking diet supplements.

Available in three flavors – Coffee, Mint and Punch – D-MIX is designed to be taken independently or blended with other beverages in order to enhance their nutritional value. Other athletes who've gotten hooked include Jeremy Bloom of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Miami Dolphins' Brandon Frye.

Terry Richardson Shoots the 2010 Pirelli Calendar

For the past 40 years, Italian tire company Pirelli has issued a limited-edition calendar to a select list of VIPs - the kind who have fleets of Pirelli-shod Ferraris - featuring scores of nude supermodels. As we reported back in December, the 2009 Pirelli Calendar features an African theme and was shot in Botswana by famed photographer Peter Beard with models including the stunning Isabeli Fontana, Malgosia Bela, Daria Werbowy and Raquel Zimmermann (along with a fleet of agreeable elephants and not a lot of clothes).

The 2010 calendar was just shot by fashionably perverted lensman Terry Richardson in Brazil with a whole new crop of beauties, including stunning upper class British model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (above), who's said to be related to the Queen of England. Huntington-Whitely has sizzled before in campaigns for the likes of Agent Provocateur and Burberry. You can check out some video footage after the jump, but be forewarned - it's possibly NSFW and the running commentary is in Italian.

Brazilian Ranch Seeks Eco-Minded Buyer

The Fazenda Santo Antonio do Paraiso in Brazil is so large it's practically its own country. The ranch spans 255,371 deeded acres. It spreads over some of the most beautiful and unspoiled land in the world. Most of the land is part of the Pantanal Wetlands Complex, the world's largest wetlands. There are four separate ecosystems on the ranch which support jaguar, puma, deer, anaconda and hundreds of species of birds. The ranch is also a working farm with 23,000 mother cows and soybeans on 8,000 tilled acres but most of the land is left to nature. Outside Magazine had a piece in November that touches on the search to find a conservation-minded buyer with $74 million to spend on this gorgeous piece of land and help protect what remains of the planet's diversity. The listing is with Hall & Hall.

Naomi Campbell's Beau Buys Her $18.5 Million Apt. in Brazil

The New York Post reports that Naomi Campbell and her Russian billionaire boyfriend, Vladimir Doronin, the "Donald Trump of Russia," recently were in her favorite country, Brazil, where he dropped $18.5 million on a penthouse apartment for her in Jardins, the Upper East Side of Sao Paolo. This came after Campbell told him how much she loved the country and "wanted to settle down there." Glamurama.com says the apartment was a "gift" to the supermodel and the couple will use it as their home in Brazil.

And more news: Campbell, who's trying to improve her angry, assistant-attacking image, also is focusing on being photographed at charitable events and launching a clothing line through 284, the new label from Daslu. "It's for strong women. I hope everybody will like it," she told a local Brazilian paper.

Plant A Billion Trees Project, Charity of the Day

Filed under: Charity, Green, Charity of the Day

The Atlantic forest in Brazil is considered one of the worlds most endangered tropical rain forests, with as little 7 percent of it's original area remaining! As we all know trees are quite literally the lungs of the earth, without their constant releasing of oxygen we would all be in trouble, what you may not know is that forests like the Atlantic also help regulate the earths climate and atmosphere. The Plant A Billion Trees Project plans to do just that...plant a billion trees in the Atlantic Forrest over the next 7 years, basically they are going to re-forest 2.5 billion acres of land. I write about charities every day and I can't think of one I've heard of that is more important than this amazing project! The facts are staggering, and so impressive, after the project is done 10 million tons of carbon dioxide will have been removed from our air, planting these trees will do the same thing as removing 2 million cars from the road!! I urge you to get involved with this powerful movement. One dollar equals one tree, so tell everyone you know! Plant a Billion Trees website.

The Great Brazil Express, Brazil's New Luxury Train

If you can get past the cheesy promotional video and the fact that the whole thing is blatantly geared towards wealthy English-speaking tourists, The Great Brazil Express luxury train tour sounds like it might actually be a travel experience worth taking. 7 day tours are available starting next week on the 23rd and take place on board a fairly intimate (fits only 22 guests) train that travels through the gorgeous Brazilian countryside. The tour starts at Curitiba and goes as far as the famous Iguazu Falls, and the train accommodations seem nice enough (albeit small) with leather couches, decor inspired by the Brazilian landscape and wildlife, music, and food/drink. Prices start at $3500.

Hotel Unique in South America's New Glamour Capital

Hotel Unique in Sao Paulo, Brazil is a breathtaking achievement by local architect Ruy Ohtake. It is easily recognizable as it resembles a big slice of watermelon; with dramatically sloping sides and flat-topped roof and round, port-hole-style windows for the seeds. It is a sleek, cutting-edge structure and so attracts a lively clientele; it is the IN place to stay if ever in the "helicopter-capital of the world". The average room price here is approximately $360 USD. They have all the amenities that one comes to expect of a luxury boutique hotel and is the perfect spot for the young and hip traveler or the newly-wedded-- this place will let you get to know someone in a hurry. This hotel features guest rooms with bathroom walls which disappear with a push of the button and one of the chicest bars in the city -- don't even show up unless you're a perfect ten. If you're traveling solo, you are sure to meet at least one someone special in the lobby. It has an informal, chill vibe with the requisite Brazilian trip-hop music and a few lounge chairs grouped around low tables. A chilled bottle of champagne greets the incoming guests, great for breaking-the-ice. And check out the crimson-red pool on the roof -- I don't know what to think here; probably something you have to experience before you decide, wonderful for a sultry late-night swim or just wildly unnatural?

Angra dos Reis, Estate of the Day

Last week, we looked at a house in Chile today, we are checking out a private island in Brazil's Angra dos Reis region. This island is close to 40 acres of complete seclusion that includes lush forests and beaches leading to turquoise waters. The main residence is a seven-bedroom home which has an open veranda and an alluring cobalt blue pool. The home has stone floors, a barbecue area with a wood pizza oven, a dock, a heliport and three-bedroom staff quarters. The master suite is separate from the rest of the house for an added level of seclusion. It is listed at $5.8 million. After the jump, do you have to helicopter in the pool boy?

Hotel Cocoon

Hotel Cocoon in Salvador Bahia, Brazil promises to be the first spaceship hotel. The concrete hotel is designed to be a haven for those who love minimalist design. The hotel has 27 guest rooms with platform beds and a monochrome look enlivened by the liberal use of orange, with concrete and hardwood accents and transparent tubs. The hotel has a cocktail lounge and a pool as well as a restaurant, Planeta Pasta, that serves Italian food. Rates for this unique hotel start at around $130. Reviews on Trip Advisor are mixed, it gets high marks for design but the hotel is a bit far away from tourist destinations and the local beach is perhaps a not idyllic.

Dasher & Dancer Purse, Handbag of the Day

This purse is a two-in-one deal. Made in Brazil of soft washed leather, the Dasher & Dancer Purse actually consists of a large shoulder bag and a much smaller one that are held together by large snaps. When attached, it gives the impression that the smaller bag really just makes up several front pockets on one main bag. When separated, you can simply select the bag that best suits your needs: small for going out in the evening and large for shopping/errands during the day. The purse would be a wonderful accessory on a vacation, where you are limited in number of bags you are allowed to carry, but might like to have more than one option when you arrive at your destination. Price: $578.

Ilha do Ourio

Ilha do Ouriço, off the coast of Brazil, is one of the more than 300 islands that are part of the Angra Dos Reis archipelago. What sets it apart from the other islands is that it has one of the top beaches in the world and is available to rent. The island has only 5 bungalows and a capacity for 10 people. The elevated, free-standing living room features many comfortable couches, a large dining table that sits at the water's edge and a glass floor that lets you peer into the water. The island is $30,000 per week. Is there any better way to get away for the summer than to go to a private island?
