Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt Renting Sassafras Estate

When Oscar-nominated actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt need to move their brood of six children to a new location they don't mess around. The pair is notorious for renting some of the best real estate in the world and their trip to Long Island is no exception. The pair is said to be renting the Sassafras estate in Llyod Neck while Jolie films the spy thriller, "Salt."

Sassafras is a 48-acre waterfront estate that was once on the market for $60 million. The estate includes a Tudor-style mansion, two helipads, and a private dock. The main house has 22,000 square feet that includes eight bedrooms. There is also a six-bedroom guest house and an 11-bedroom staff house. Newsday has a couple more pictures of the impressive estate.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Picking Up Property in Provence?

I've been hearing rumors about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie looking at property in the South of France for at least a year now but this week the gossip seems to have hit critical mass and it looks like this globe-trotting family may really be picking up a French chateau. The property in question ins located in the village of Eygalieres in Provence, France and has the romantic name of Mas de la Chapelle St. Sixte. US Weekly has reported that the Jolie-Pitts had been looking at the property last year but then decided not to purchase because the locals wouldn't let Brad Pitt but in a motorbike track on the over six-acre property. Now that the couple has gotten approval for the track it looks like the deal is back on.

The Telegraph had a great piece in January that covered the story of Mas de la Chapelle St Sixte and provides a sharp little photo gallery of the home in question. The main stone house was built in 1150 by monks and it was where was where Pope Clement VI stayed during the wine harvest in the 14th century. More recently it played host to Vanity Fair editor in chief, Graydon Carter at the high price of £1000 per day. The current owners are Jennifer and James Butler, a writer and a retired TV producer and art collector who fell in love with the historic ruin in 1990. The house had been empty since 1954 and the couple spent six years and a lot of money restoring it in keeping with local traditions. The couple has listed the home for 14 million euros ($22.089 million) partially because the couple were not sure how to divide the home among their nine children. The home has seven bedrooms and five bathrooms which frankly seems a bit tiny for the Jolie-Pitts, their children and their entourage of assistants but what a lovely place to be a bit cramped in.

A Pricey Pad For The Jolie-Pitts

When money is no object it's always interesting to see what people choose as far as living arrangements go, and obviously money is no object for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. So what did they choose? According to The New York Post they've landed at The Waldorf Towers in New York City. The 6,000 sq ft luxury apartment includes 6 bedrooms, an enormous kitchen, multiple terraces with sweeping views of the city, room service, maid service, and a 24hr concierge.

And perhaps more valuable to the couple than anything is the fact that the new $100,000 per month pad is close to both the United Nations (where Jolie is a goodwill ambassador) and their son Maddox's private French school.

Could Angelina and Brad Really Be Getting Into The Wine Business?

Filed under: Estates, Wine, Celebrity Shopping

I'm not sure how much I believe this rumor but I love following the real estate doings of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The latest gossip comes from Just Jared who reports that the glamorous couple and their brood have been checking out Chateau Val-Joanis, a winery in the south of France. Chateau Val-Joanis is located in the Luberon, east of Avignon and north of Aix-en-Provence on the site of an ancient Roman villa (there are even some of the foundations remaining on the property). The estates boundaries remain the same as when they appeared in Cassini's land register of 1575 even though the estate fell on hard times for a while. It has been restored and is a fully functioning winery that makes both wines and olive oil and also is home to expansive gardens over the 1,000 acres. Now this isn't the first rumor we have heard about the Jolie-Pitts buying in France, at one point we thought they might pick up Yves St. Laurent's getaway home on the Normandy Coast. It's isn't even the first winery rumor, last year Brad was spotted touring wineries in Italy. So it is possible, but with this globetrotting couple nothing is ever certain.

Are Brad and Angelina Buying A Yacht?

A report has reached our friends over at Gadling that Brangelina is buying a ginormous Italian yacht. According to "sources," the couple have ordered a 240 ft yacht from Privilege Yard on the Mediterranean near Rome. Currently, the yard is confirming that a large order has been placed, but isn't saying whether or not it's for the famous couple. The yacht in question features a 6 suites, a swimming pool, and Helipad.

Personally, I doubt the validity of this story. I think that if Brangelina was in the market for a boat, they would be looking at container ships and/or Noah's Ark to fit their ever growing family.

Suri and Shiloh Sweaters

I have heard it said that there is a knitting craze among the Hollywood hot list, but it seems rather unlikely that they're sitting at home knitting sweaters when Los Angeles is in the midst of a major heat wave. But it might be true because a popular LA knitting store, Suss Designs, is now selling sweaters inspired by Suri Cruise and Shiloh Jolie- Pitt. Suri's sweater is emblazoned with her initial, while the Shiloh sweater has two cartoon faces that might represent Brangelina's other kids, Zahara and Maddox. The sweaters are selling for $109 (Shiloh) and $89 (Suri) at Suss's LA boutique.

Brangelina's Retro Fantasy House for Sale

While Brad and Angelina don't own (and to my knowledge never have) this beautiful 1957 Rancho Mirage property, it was the site of a memorable photo shoot featured in W magazine shortly after the pair got together. The glam, retro shoot had a perfect backdrop in the Kenaston Residence, which is a landmark residence designed by architect E. Stewart Williams. It has been completely restored, staying true to its mid-century modernist roots, with natural rock, wood and frosted glass. It has a large swimming pool, partially surrounded by the U-shaped house and lots of floor-to-ceiling windows. All the retro-chic furnishings, including Eames chairs and Nelson lamps, are included.

In terms of details, the house is 5,000-sq. ft. with 4 bedrooms (2 master suites) and 3/5 baths. It is on a 1/2 acre lot with 50 palm trees. The asking price is $2,875,000 and there is a property tax discount due to its landmark status. Lots of photos of the house after the jump.

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt Starts First Trend

Clearly headed for celebrity at only a few days old, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt sparked a rush on "The Pots and Pans Band" tee that she wore on the cover of People Magazine last week. The tee shirt is made by Kingsley and is made of ultra-soft cotton, which is comfortable enough for even a baby's sensitive skin. The screen printed design has the name of the band, a picture of the "instruments" and a skull and crossbones to give young rockers the right image. The shirts are selling out all over the place, but Intuition has them for $38 each.

Brangelina Baby Pic Sold for $4.9M

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have reportedly sold the rights to the first picture of their as-yet-unborn child for $4.9 million (£2.6 million) to an unnamed American weekly magazine. The money will be donated to the children's charity, UNICEF. Knowing that the paparazzi are likely to try to snap pictures of the baby as soon after it is born as possible, the couple "figured they might as well use the opportunity of one child being born to help a lot of others." Angelina's due date is supposed to be in early June.

Brangelina to Launch Housewares Line

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are planning to launch their own line of traditional African housewares and other home products later this year. They are reported to be working with local craftsmen in Namibia, where they currently reside, to create the products for their line, which will include textiles and pottery. The collection will be launched at an art fair in Paris in September.

Given that the Brangelina collection will debut in Paris, it seems like it will be sold at a premium price, but since Angelina was among Forbes magazine's picks of the most generous celebrities, the odds are good that the couple will be putting a lot of that money back into the community.

Angelina's Buying in Dubai?

The latest rumor regarding the real estate purchases of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt has her buying into the World. Various sources are reporting that Jolie will be picking up the man-made version of Ethiopia in the Dubai development.  They say that Jolie will turn her fake Africa into a real fair-trading paradise for Africans. Brad and Angelina did visit Dubai last year but this rumor still sounds far-fetched to me.

Angelina and Brad Cozy Up At Burning Shore

Pregnancy has not slowed down the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie hotel tour. This week finds them in Nambia at the Burning Shore Resort near Walvis Bay. They have taken over the whole resort with their children and five other people. A private security firm and local police officials are making sure that the couple has privacy.  The small resort has a restaurant on the beach and the rooms have ocean views. Rumors are flying that the couple may marry in this exotic location.

Brad Pitt Doesn't Like Paris Apartment

Brad Pitt isn’t thrilled with his living situation. While the source of the information, namely a café worker near Pitt’s Paris apartment, might not be the mostly likely candidate for Brad’s confidence, the reasons he cites are certainly valid. According to him, Pitt doesn’t like the high-rise building he shares with Angelina Jolie and their children because there is not enough space for the kids to play. He wants a yard. He wants quiet. He wants to leave Paris. Maybe Brangelina will reconsider the house in Normandy that they were looking into a few months ago, which would certainly offer the growing family more room.

Reports say that the apartment is only 1,300-sq. feet and the building has a “sickly, cabbage type smell.” The high rise is plain and utilitarian, and though it has a view of the Eiffel Tower, it is surrounded by fast food restaurants and is near a noisy metro station. No wonder he wants to leave.

Brad and Jen Drop The Price On Their Beverly Hills Home

It's a post-divorce discount, the Beverly Hills home once shared by Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston hit the market in October for $28 million. Now, the home is listed at $24.95 million. The Wallace Neff designed French Normandy beauty is a stunner inside. The flash tour has been disabled on the listing website so no more gawking but it is a lovely home. The purchased the house for $13.5 million in 2001 and according to The Insider the pair will split the proceeds although I read elsewhere that Jen got a $29 million Bev HIlls home as part of the divorce.

Another Brangelina Real Estate Rumor

Now this is a juicy real estate rumor. According to Fashion Week Daily, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have paid $25 million for Château Gabriel, the 127 year-old Anglo-Norman house on the Normandy coast in Deauville that was the summer home to Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé. The home sits on 75 acres and has a view of the ocean. The home has nine bedrooms which are each named after a character from Proust’s Remembrance of Things Past. The International Herald Tribune has a slide show of the lovely and classic home. This is the second Brangelina real estate rumor we have heard recently and it definitely seems that the couple is in nesting mode.
