Ring in the New Year with 16 Sparkling Jewels

New Year's Eve is just days away and we are so excited to welcome 2011, even though 2010 felt like a blink in time. We've already featured 12 gorgeous party dresses to get you inspired in your search for the perfect dress for Big Bash 2011 and now it's time to incorporate some sparkling jewels to complement your outfit.

When wearing jewelry, let your outfit talk to you. If it feels off but you can't pinpoint the source, listen to your inner voice because you're probably right. Trying taking off or putting on a piece of jewelry to see how you feel. Take note of whether your outfit is enhanced or drowned out. Remember, there is no need to match your jewelry to your outfit by color or to cover every part of your body with jewelry – having a bare wrist or neckline can speak volumes depending on your outfit.

SoCheec Jewelry to Make Grand Debut in February

SoCheec Jewelry CuffSoCheec Jewelry specializes in big and bold statement pieces as well as fun, trendy designs that incorporate some of the latest nature trends like glimmering spider webs, sparkling snakes, and downright squirmy looking octopuses. They have a little bit of everything but my favorites are the big chunky cuffs, this one done up in pretty textured stingray with a sparkling "hip hop" pattern of diamonds and rubies ($8,338). SoCheec has already been seen on several red carpet celebrities but will make its grand debut in February 2011 during Oscar week at The London Hotel in Los Angeles.

German Football Coach Orders Tod's Bracelets for World Cup

Germany's national football team got an extra boost of team spirit and patriotism at the World Cup this year thanks to Italian luxury goods firm Tod's. Oliver Berhoff, the German National Team Manager, was shopping in one of Germany's Tod's boutiques a short while back when he spotted the brand's new My Colours braided leather bracelets in the country's national hues of black, red and gold (above). He purchased them for all the players and management as a symbol of team spirit and togetherness; the soccer stars were seen wearing them off the field while head coach Joachim Löw sported his on the sidelines of the games in South Africa. Currently available at Tod's boutiques worldwide, the bracelets retail for about $225 apiece and come in various national colors with steel clasps.

Alexis Bittar Montauk Bracelet

The Montauk Bracelet ($495) by Mr. Lucite himself - Alexis Bittar - is like a beautiful explosion of turquoise stones coming from a jagged edged crystal. Its breathtaking presence is reminiscent of a family heirloom that has been passed from one generation to the next. The Montauk Bracelet has a balanced feel between old world sensibilities and modern appeal. I especially love its eye popping color that will add such vibrancy and fun to your outfit. It measures at 2.5" diameter and 1.5" high.

Bijoux Heart Tropica Cuff

bijoux heart tropica cuff This colorful concoction of Swarovski crystals, turquoise colored stones and cubic zirconias set against a 24 karat twisted rope bracelet makes for a bold fashion statement. You get the look of layering several bracelets in just one piece while avoiding the annoying jangle sound that can be a nuisance after awhile. Even with all of the intricacies and jewels, the Bijoux Heart Tropica Cuff has a cohesive look that is fun and puts an unexpected twist to your outfit. This cuff would look great against the backdrop of a little black dress, stilettos and a clutch. Price: $705.

Jessica Kagan Cushman Scrimshaw Cuffs

Spider Scrimshaw Cuff Jessica Kagan Cushman
Jessica Kagan Cushman is famous for her bracelet and accessory designs and this Scrimshaw Spider Cuff really caught my eye. Made of fossilized mammoth ivory and featuring a very large (and sort of realistic looking) spider front and center this is certainly not a piece to be purchased or worn on a whim. Hand-inked and hand-finished, no two of these cuffs come out the same. A unique and rare blend of earthy and contemporary.

I like this spider the best but there's also a lion version and a fly. $2,650

Links of London Charm Bracelet Builder

I've loved charm bracelets ever since I was a little girl. There's something so fun and silly (in a good way) about all the individual little charms, miniature and colorful and all representing something different and meaningful. Putting together a bracelet is about building a collection of memories (some people keep adding charms over their entire lives) and Links of London's Charm Bracelet Designer is a fun and entertaining way to do it online. I'm not even in the market for another bracelet (although some of the individual charms are tempting!) but had fun wasting twenty minutes or so scrolling through the options and dragging and dropping all my favorite picks into various arrangements on the bracelet of my choice. You can sort by materials or category groups (shopping, animals, etc) and it tallies up your total as you go.

IceLink Bicycle Chain Bracelets

Men who enjoy wearing bracelets have an incredible amount of options out there. Bracelets and other non-watch wrist wear are increasing in popularity and are suitable as something to wear on one's wrist opposite a watch, or even with a watch on the same wrist. Alternatively they can be worn on days you take a break from your watch, but you still want something there to keep your wrist from feeling naked.

Watch and jewelry maker IceLink has a neat line of Bicycle Bracelets for men. While IceLink's timepiece collection is clearly priced in the luxury range, these bicycle chain styled bracelets are much more value priced. The brand offers a range of the bracelets in different styles, widths, and with various levels of decoration. Seen above are just two examples with an all stainless steel metal version and other with alternating black link segments.

With a design directly inspired by bicycle chains, the line of bracelets is intentionally "gear minded." With the communicative power to suggest that its wearer is both active, and has an appreciation of well-made sports equipment such as a bike or motorcycle. Price is in the $175 range (give or take a bit). You can visit their website for a full catalog of the IceLink Bicycle Chain bracelet choices.

Lux Staples: Our Picks for Summer Bangles

Clingy or tight jewelry can get uncomfortable in the hot summer months when sweating and feeling sticky is a daily occurrence, but it's also the time of year when accessories can look their best shining in the sun against tan skin. That's what makes bangle bracelets so perfect! They come in every size, shape, and color, and although they work any time of year I particularly love them come summer. Their loose-fitting style can go casual or glam, and they always look awesome with the season's breezy fabrics and beachy dresses. The market for Obama jewelry is still going strong. The range of jewelry runs from the inexpensive and symbolic to the extravagant diamond Obama necklace. Somewhere in the middle range is the "Elements of Change" collection from jewelry designer Jeanine Payer. The line features pieces inscribed with excerpts from President Barack Obama's inauguration poem by Elizabeth Alexander, "Praise Song for the Day."

The collection includes three necklaces and three bracelets offered in sterling silver and 14-karat gold. The bracelet shown above has a 14k gold medallion hanging from a sterling silver multi-chain. The engraving appears on the pendant's front and back and the piece sells for $620.

Diamonds complement every fabric, flatter every skin tone, and go with every outfit. Not to mention that the beautiful way they sparkle has the power to bring happiness wherever they go. No wonder they're a girl's best friend! One of the easiest, and most versatile, ways to wear diamonds is in the form of a tennis bracelet. Although everybody has their trendy and of-the-moment favorite bracelets, a beautiful tennis bracelet (or maybe two, one in white gold and one in yellow) will serve you well.
