Opening Ceremony Par Robert Clergerie Tall Boots

Tall high heeled boots add instant sensuality to the routine fall ensemble of jeans and a sweater. Especially if you're going to wear Opening Ceremony Par Robert Clergerie Tall Boots ($1300). With a 5 inch heel, 1.5 inch platform sole and an extremely long shaft that finally settles around your knees, your sex appeal meter will go through the roof.

Opening Ceremony Par Clergerie Tall Boots has a monochromatic body and a casual adornment of shoelaces that transform a pair of bold and sexy high heeled boots into a very wearable accessory. The combination allows for versatility and longevity. Although the heel is quite high, the thickness and platform sole should help to provide a little bit of stability and comfort. They are also available in black.

Versace Patent & Suede Boots

Versace Patent & Suede Boots
Versace is all about sex appeal. Their clothes are created in such a way that they wrap around a woman's body and enhance everything. It's difficult not to notice a woman wearing a Versace vixen dress. And the same can be said of their shoes.

Take a gander at Versace's High Heeled Boots ($1088). Styled in suede, navy patent leather straps run across the vamp and toe box with golden studs and grommets that nicely break up a sea of purplish blue. There's slight ruching at the top making for a subtle accent if worn with jeans or skinny cords tucked in. Additionally, Versace's High Heeled Boots have an almond shaped toe, which always seem to make your feet look smaller - if that's a concern. My favorite accent is the hint of vixen red around the dark wooden cone shaped heel. These sexy boots would make for a bold alternative to your basic black and brown fall boots.

Givenchy Tassel Oxford

The oxford shoe has been making a strong comeback for both men and women for sometime now. It's a look that I appreciate and when done right, can look unexpectedly fashionable and expressive. Unfortunately, it's also a shoe that I personally cannot wear - too many bad memories of a strict dress code from my private school days.

But Givenchy's Tassel Oxford Heels ($1650) may just change my mind. It's an unusual shoe with all sorts of adornments that may initially seem out of place but there is something about these oxford heels that feel unique and sophisticated. They're styled in warm burnt orange/chestnut brown suede with grommets, laces, tassels and a back zipper. They would look great styled with toothpick corduroys or cargo pants, and a warm loose fitting sweater.

Heel measurement: 4.7". Also available in black.

Fendi Cap Toe Mid Boot

Combining style with functionality, the Fendi Cap Toe Boot ($900) has you prepared for the casual days that still need a little boost to make your outfit interesting.

Set in navy blue corded suede and accented with sand colored shoelaces, rubber cap toe and sole, you'll have comfort, be scuff free (at least around the toe box) all the while looking very chic in a unique pair of boots.

While I admire suede's luxe look, given it's rubber cap toe, it would have been nice to see this boot in a material that was not so fragile and could withstand some rain but I suppose that is what wellies are for. Shaft measurement: 7.5" and heel measurement: 4.5".

Geren Ford's Convertible "Farrah" Boot

Geren Ford's Convertible It's fall, and that means it's time for new boots. Geren Ford has removed the conundrum of whether to get a bootie, a mid-calf, or a knee-high pair by making one boot that can be worn several ways. The "Farrah" has zippers, just like those on convertible pants that become shorts. These would look fantastic with leggings, skinny jeans, or a mini with opaque tights. Also available in black, natch. 4" heel, 16" body, with 3.5" between the zips, .75" platform in front, and signature Geren Ford custom rivet at the heel. Made of Italian leather. $499.

Michael by Michael Kors Tatum Bootie

Ah, another pair of brown strappy boots. I can't get enough of them and designers seem to feel the same way. Everywhere I turn, I see a pair of sexy strappy boots to add to my Fall wardrobe want list. What a simple adornment to create an impressive look.

This time we are highlighting the Tatum Buckle Bootie ($380) by Michael by Michael Kors. It's a pair of boots that could be worn daily but still make an impact to your outfit given its decorative straps. The collection of brown straps along Kors' ankle boots makes for a dramatic touch against a rich, dark chocolate brown backdrop.

They feature an almond toe, a platform sole measuring a little over an inch and thick 5" heels. Wear casually with form fitting jeans and an oversized sweater for a "I just threw this on but I look so good" kind of outfit.

Alexander McQueen Floral Engraved Boots

Alexander McQueen Boots
I only write about shoes when they strike me as especially unique, strange, or beautiful, and this pair of Alexander McQueen Floral Engraved Boots are definitely beautiful and unique and could even be considered a little strange. Mixing soft feminine elements with tough biker styles is an ongoing trend that McQueen does exceptionally well and in this case it comes in the form of a Byzantine-inspired gold-tone floral engraved heel combined with a black leather and buckles upper. Details include platform styling with a 6" heel, pointed toe, cut-out bridge detail, mock-croc effects on the heel and toe, a rear tab, and zip fasteners on the front and the side. Wearing these would make me feel like a modern day Cleopatra. $4,295

Muks High Fashion Wedge MukLuks

Traditionally worn by Canadian Aboriginals for hunting in the snow, Mukluks have taken a turn to the glamorous side and are now being worn as day and even evening wear by fashionistas around the globe. Muks' Autumn/Winter 10/11 collection draws inspiration from the seventies bohemian rock era and aims to be the most high fashion collection of MukLuk boots yet.

The Glam Rock Collection boasts trendy studded suede and luxurious fur, plus the boots themselves come in an assortment of shapes and sizes. The Wrap Muks (shown here) are one of the best selling designs and feature fur wrapped around the leg with ribbons of criss-crossed suede that tie in a bow on either side. Wrap Muks come in tall, short, and (their newest incarnation) Wedge styles. Yes, you can get a MukLuk with a heel.

I would not have thought that 'MukLuk' and 'high heel' would go together but it actually does work. The first ever "Wedge Muk" features a cross-like nailhead studded pattern on the toe and more studs on the suede straps and along the top rim. The studs are subtle but very pretty and the overall effect evokes real winter glamour. $295 - $395

Chloe Wrapped Strap Boot

I've got a severe soft spot for tall brown high heeled boots. Brown just seems to match with anything that you wear and adds softness and warmth when compared to black boots. Chloe's Wrapped Strap Boot ($1195) is definitely making my list of 'Desired Fall Purchases'.

Belts are minimally wrapped around the shaft against warm caramel colored leather and perfectly accented with a rusty orange leather strap at the top. The toe is a rounded square, allowing for some comfort, but with a 4 1/2" heel, this may not be the best for walking the streets all day. And unfortunately, there is no zipper (women need zippers for tall boots!) so these boots will be easier to put on for those with slender legs.

Bionda Castana Open Toed Boots

Set in smoky blue grey leather and minimally accented with suede, Bionda Castana's Open Toed Sandals ($689) are unassuming yet fashionably versatile. Its neutral palette lends itself to be complementary to a wide variety of colorful or monochromatic outfits. Skirts, dresses, slim pants and jeans or wide leg trousers would all look great.

Castana's Sandals feature a back zip closure to easily slip on. Along the vamp is a window paned-esque detail that if paired with color tights or socks would make for an unexpected twist to an otherwise serene shoe.

Burberry Prorsum Aviator Shearling Boot

Burberry has infused a rocker edge with feminine sex appeal in their Aviator Shearling Boots ($1395). Everything that Burberry Prorsum presented for their Autumn/Winter 2010 line has been lust worthy. We love everything but had to feature their boots – they are so gorgeous.

Fashioned in cracked leather and accented with gold buckles along the vamp to the top of the boots, they are lined with a cozy curly shearling that will surely keep your feet extremely warm. The Avaitors have a 5 inch heel and a gripped army sole that would complement any pair of skinny jeans, oversized sweater and a pair of bold earrings ensemble.

Alejandro Ingelmo Ankle Boots

Alejandro Ingelmo's ($1013) bondage-like black heeled boots are ultra sexy. They feature an extreme heel (just a little over 4 inches), a platform sole and a rounded yet slightly pointed and turned up toe. What really makes these boots stand out is their leather criss cross straps all along the vamp up past your ankles against a suede backdrop. Although the leather and suede are both in black, the contrasting materials look amazing together. As a subtle but important touch, the top of the boot also has swooping edge, complimenting the criss cross straps. Ingelmo's Ankle Boots are quite vampy and can turn the most conservative of ensembles into an undercover sex kitten.

EMUs New Water-Resistant Boots Make a Splash

Filed under: Apparel, Shoes, Luxury Shopping

I have nursed my faithful pair of tan sheepskin boots through three years of rain, visits to the snow and -- since I live in southern California where we wear our boots for reasons of style over substance most days -- blistering heat. And sadly, they are now of retirement age -- long ago losing their shape, their sheen, their very high coolness factor sacrificed to the elements. And at the risk of sounding like someone who casts aside an old friend in favor of the new kid on the block, I am doing precisely that: UGGs, begone. Make room for my new EMUs, which have already passed the -- get this -- water test.

A sheepskin boot, warm and cozy on the inside and covered with the smoothest suede-like leather on God's green Earth -- and they are waterproof?? OK, water-resistant, but the company has submerged them in water and out they came looking good as new, which makes them waterproof in my book. Bring on the El Ninos. Mammoth Mountain ski area, here we come. The leather didn't dry or crack. The color deepened, but in a weathery happy way. The shape kept. I'm sold.

The Fashion Statement: Extreme Feet

Extreme, statement-making shoes make the woman.

If you routinely go the safe route on your footwear choices (and, by safe, I mean simple plain black pumps or modest, solid-colored flats), you're just not living. Or at least not setting yourself apart.

The fashion world is obsessed with over-the-top shoes. The crazier, the scarier, the stranger, the better. And, because fashion is a business, it means women's appetite for extreme footwear is increasing by leaps and bounds.

Sky scraping platforms. Metallic belt-buckle over-the-knee boots. Shoes that resemble the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Shoes that look like bloated armadillos. Cowboy boots that threaten to topple you over backwards. Torturous spikes. Spinal stilettos. Garter belt lace-ups. Stilettos festooned with feathers.

For fall, 2010, ski bindings and interior design materials like plywood and Formica marry to create Baleniaga's high-heeled, color-blocked loafers. They are absolutely nuts! And you'll no doubt see them on some Hollywood It creature come red carpet events later this year.

Riccardo Tisci's Givenchy fall lineup includes an impossibly complicated pair of red lace-up booties that have tiny bumps not unlike some deep sea monster.

Hello Kitty Purrs Her Way on to Dr. Martens

What was once a serious working man's boot will, 50 years later, sport the image of the "world's most adorable kitten" on it. Somewhere, someone is spinning in a grave -- but don't expect that someone to be the Hello Kitty fans eager to be wearing one of the limited edition Dr. Martens coming out in September.

Dr. Martens ("Doc Martens" for the uninitiated) boots transitioned from being a working-class essential to a counter-culture icon back in the 1960s. To sport your "Docs" was to wear your politics, much the same as long hair and bell-bottom jeans. They spoke rebellion and hipness and were probably the first statement shoe to be declared as such. Today's Docs are simply cool, favored by the music scene and regularly sold with MP3 download tie-ins.

Created in the Munich garage of Dr. Klaus Maertens, who eventually teamed up with the Griggs shoe-making family of Great Britain, the sturdy boot was born, a boot that felt -- and still feels -- like you were walking on air. The cat -- as in Hello Kitty -- didn't come up this alley until of late.
