For those looking for a large yacht than can still make decent time, a catamaran is often the answer. An article in a
British Columbia newspaper profiles Seascape Marine Builders, a
growing company in Maple Ridge, B.C. They are working on the Ultimate 2, a 72-foot jet powered catamaran that can race
along at 80km/h (around 43 knots). The yacht uses two 1650 horsepower Rolls-Royce engines to power the water jets. The
yacht cost $7 million to create and sleeps ten. The Ultimate 2 is headed to a German client in the Dominican Republic.
