Rebecca Minkoff Morning-After Mini Satchel, Handbag of the Day

Rebecca Minkoff Morning-After Mini SatchelWhy Ms. Minkoff, what a saucy name for your satchel! The Rebecca Minkoff Morning-After Mini Satchel is great for the morning after, true, but we think we'd carry it around all day.

First of all, we love this pick-me-up shade of blue (it's called "Deep Turquoise" and thankfully it's not at the green end of that color range). We can't think of a person who wouldn't be flattered by this color -- wouldn't this look great with your hair? We bet it would.

The shape is simple and attractive; we love the boxy look. At 8 1/2"H x 13"W x 7"D, it's not big enough for your portfolio, but it is big enough for your toothbrush and a change of ... socks (nudge nudge wink wink).

The Rebecca Minkoff Morning-After Mini Satchel is available from Neiman Marcus for $550.00.

A. Lange & Sohne Cabaret Soirée Lady's Watch

The graciously flattering presence of a timepiece such as this needs to be seen on a woman's wrist to be appreciated. The mixture of perfect functionality with luxury appointments makes A. Lange & Sohne of the best high-end watch makers in the world, especially for women. This is the newest model in their lady's jewelry watch line, and they are highly limited in production.

These are the new Cabaret Soirée timepieces and they come in 26.5mm wide by 36.3mm tall 18k white gold cases with 70 Wesselton diamonds lining the bezel (0.9 carats). Sapphire crystal and caseback for appreciating the hand decorated movement. There are two versions of the watch, both limited to only 10 pieces. The dials of each are lined with solid silver and have rhodium coated gold hands. First is the Ref. 827.029 in baby blue, with a mother-of-pearl dial, matched with the light blue crocodile strap. Then there is the Ref. 827.035 Cabaret Soirée in pink with a rose colored mother-of-pearl dial, matched with a "mother-of-pearl rose" colored pink crocodile strap.

Like all A. Lange & Sohne watches, the Cabaret Soirée watches will have all in-house made movements. These watches have the Calibre L931.4 manually wound mechanical movements with a subsidiary seconds hand and "out-size" date. The movement has 237 parts and a power reserve of 42 hours. Everything on the case and watch is top quality, and you'll be lucky to get one of the only twenty pieces available worldwide.

Bamford & Sons Modded Rolex Milgauss Watch To Be Sold At Colette In Paris

bamford & sons rolex milgauss watch
Bamford & Sons is most known in the watch world as an aftermarket modifier of Rolex watches. This process usually involves the application of black PVD as well as color enhancements. Their most popular modded watch? The Rolex Submariner of course. This time around they have made a special edition modded Rolex to be sold at the Colette store in Paris. I can't explain why Bamford would sell a watch at what is essentially a competitor, but I will just take that part for granted.

Bamford applied their skills to change the looks of the Rolex Milgauss, a nifty, but less well-known Rolex watch based on a classic line of scientist friendly watches from over half a century ago. The watch's major claim to fame was its high resistance to magnetic fields, not to mention the lightning bolt style sweeping seconds hands.
Bamford gives the Milgauss a look Rolex never would. Black PVD over the steel case, rich blue dial, black seconds hand, and all white text on the case. Price will likely be a few thousand dollars (ahem... I mean euros) above your standard new Rolex Milgauss watch. Should be available this month from Colette.

Glashutte Original Sport Evolution Limited Edition Watch Only At Lussori

This fine timepiece from Glashutte Original is in a limited edition of just 15 pieces, each available only at the luxury watch store Lussori that is located in Carmel-By-The-Sea. California. This special version of the Glashutte Original Sport Evolution Panorama Date watch is in the full 18k rose gold case and bracelet, and has a beautiful blue dial and bezel.

Like all Glashutte Original watches, the movements are in-house made in Glashutte Germany. The level of decoration and refinement are impressive. You can see the automatic movement through the case back of the watch (which is still covered in all the protective plastic in the pictures). Holding the watch in your hand you are impressed with the heft of gold. It makes for a highly noticeable watch that you'll notice on your wrist - a good thing in my opinion. While some people enjoy the concept of stealth wealth, others adore having their timepieces be noticed. The various tones of metallic blue on the dial are complimented by splashes of red. The square club hands are easy to read, while the two-disc "panorama" big date at 4 o'clock is a wonderful complication to have in a sport style watch.

Admire the case and you'll notice some of the finer details that you get in German Glashutte Original watch - that you'll never find in a Rolex (which arelower cost watches, though obvious thematic competitors to this timepiece). There is certainly a lot more sophisticated style here in the Sport Evolution than say a Submariner or Yachmaster. Plus you have the Glashutte Original movements that you can't even really compare to Rolex. The case is 42.5mm wide and very well polished and finished with contrasting brushed and polished surfaces. The Sport Evolution bracelet is one of the most interestingly made bracelets available with absolutely no gaps and a complex but smooth feel to it (so characteristically German). If you want one of these lovely numbers, you'll have to talk to or visit Lussori. Retail price is about $40,000 for this all rose gold Glashutte Original Sport Evolution Panorama Date watch.

Fendi 8BR568, Handbag of the Day

fendi 8BR568
This Fendi bag immediately caught my eye because of its tranquil color and unusual texture. It would certainly dress up any simple outfit, and would look especially great with black. The 8BR568, available in the blue shown here and the silver shown below, has a metallic laminated look with leather overlays. It has geometric perforations throughout, a zip-top closure, large metallic leather pull, logo fabric lining with two patch pockets and one snap closure patch pocket. Measurements: 15.75" x 12.5" x 5.5" with 22.5" double handles and a 10" drop. Made in Italy, comes with a Fendi pouch. Regular price, $2,530, but on sale now at Bagsbuy for $1,644.95.

Suntory's Blue Roses

Not this Valentine's Day, but next Valentine's Day, some lucky ladies will be getting not red but blue roses from loved ones looking to show their affection. 14 years in the making, Suntory Ltd. is already growing test batches of the new blooms here in the States and is anticipating big sales and premium prices when they launch them next year in Japan.

Blue roses are such a rare commodity because no blue pigment naturally exists in roses, which means serious genetic modification had to happen even to get this pretty shade of purple. But what I don't get is why do they insist on calling a purple rose blue? It strikes me as an impure form of blue (there's obviously still red in the mix) and it just begs for somebody else to come up with a slightly "bluer" color and call it better. Either way, they are really beautiful -- and no word yet on what this new blue rose will be called.

The War Bowl

Hmm, I really don't know how I feel about this War Bowl. Designed by Mosley meets Wilcox. It's representative of something, but you'll have to decide what it means to you. Created by melting plastic soldiers together -- half French infantry and half British artillery from the Battle of Waterloo -- the end result is a sad but interesting looking dish that I doubt anyone would actually use to keep anything in. It kinda looks like an accident to me, like a pile of children's play soldiers ended up getting melted somehow and ruined. It also reminds me of the "Fall of the Damned" lampshade and might look interesting placed directly beneath it...

The War Bowl measures 4"x17.3" and is only available in blue for this particular soldier version, but the Mosley meets Wilcox website has other versions of War Bowls including red ninjas and black knights. $229

Jay-Z's Limited Edition Yukon Denali

At the Detroit Auto Show, Autoblog got to take a first-hand look at GMC's new limited edition Yukon Denali. The SUV's "fresh, vibrant color" just happens to be the signature blue of rapper Jay-Z, who helped customize it. It also contains platinum dust for a bit of bling and a more intense sheen than you might find with other metallic paints. A limited number of the cars wlll be available for sale, but there is no price out yet.

Pucci Vivara Flat Shoulder Bag, Handbag of the Day

This Pucci Flat Shoulder Bag is a great casual handbag. The Vivara-print design has soothing blues rolling across a soft terrycloth fabric in wavelike patterns. Polished, crescent-shaped silver discs hold the white leather trim together with the white leather shoulder straps, which, of course, have a few metal studs. The classic flat shape of the bag makes it very easy to carry under your arm and the soft leather makes it exceptionally comfortable. Price: $750.

Botkier Lexi Bag, Handbag of the Day

Botkier bags are designed by Monica Botkier, a former fashion photographer who was looking for a stylish bag that was big enough to hold all her equipment. She had no idea that the Trigger Bag she created would launch her into a permanent place in the world of handbag design, with fans like Sarah Jessica Parker and Gwyneth Paltrow. This ocean-blue satchel is the Lexi Bag, a top-handled bag with plenty of hidden pockets and compartments to tuck away everything from keys to cellphones. It is made of soft, supple calfskin which, in Botkier style, is durable and long lasting. The metal studs on the strap make it seasonal, but with a bag this functional and easy to carry, it won't get relegated to the back of the closet any time in the near future. It is also available in five other colors, including black and white. Price: $645

The $3,000 Martini

The Bombay Sapphire Martini at Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut is for anyone with rich tastes - specifically with a taste for diamonds. The $3,000 drink is made with Bombay Sapphire Gin, Blue Curacao and a splash of dry vermouth, served in a glass rimmed with blue sugar crystals and garnished with custom-made blue sapphire and diamond earrings atop a sterling silver pick. Some are describing it as "pure decadence in a glass," but the Algonquin's $10,000 martini still probably has the edge in the decadence department if your criteria is based on price and the size of the stones that come with the drink.

Lux List: Top Spring Sundresses

Sundresses are on the casual end of elegance. Largely sleeveless, they are perfect for garden parties, a lazy Sunday brunch or a picnic at the park. They should be comfortable and easy to wear, but classy at the same time; sundresses are not too casual and should look good with strappy sandals or thong flats. This spring, there are a couple of trends that are showing up in the sun. The biggest one is white. White is the must-have shade for spring dresses. It is flattering and cooling, simple enough to be paired with any other shade and bright enough to be eye catching. Large print patterns and stripes are popular, too, but are definitely coming in second to the simple white dress. Other trends to look out for are dresses with empire waists and fuller skirts, as well as easy-to-wear shirt dresses, all of which can be very figure flattering.

This white Vintage Lace Shirtdress from ABS by Allen Schwartz has a lace overlay over an empire chiffon slip. It is flowy and flirty without being too revealing. Price $230.
