It's almost time for the annual
Burning Man festival when thousands of merrymakers trek out onto the playa in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada (this year's event runs August 30 to September 6). The event was traditionally for hardy spirits willing to endure the heat, dust and spartan conditions of the event in order to take part in the unique festivities but like
glamping, luxury has come to Burning Man. The
LA Times reports on the brisk business that one RV company does each year during this time. Burning Man is El Monte RV's single biggest event for motor-home rentals. Luxury packages for Burning Man take out a lot of the hassle (and challenge) of taking part in the event. You can get a luxury 34-foot Fleetwood Fiesta or 35-foot Fleetwood Bounder for the week stocked with your choice of groceries (ordered online from a local grocery store and then stocked for you by the company) and outfitted with kitchen supplies, bedding and flatscreen televisions delivered to Black Rock City. The company picks you up from Reno and delivers you right to your RV or you can arrange to ride in the motorhome directly to the site. The luxury package costs around
$12,000 to $15,000 depending on options and details.
