Dunhill Black Diamond Classic Watch Hands-On

Each year A. Dunhill of London releases maybe 1-2 new watches. Not easy to find, these good looking timepieces would certainly bring joy to those who find them. This one is my fave for 2011, the Dunhill Black Diamond Classic. Is is true to watch making? It has a Jaeger-LeCoultre calibre 896 automatic inside, which should satisfy the skeptical.

But the allure here is the beautiful design and dial. Classic and elegant, the watch is 38mm wide in steel with a dial made up of crushed black diamonds set in lacquer. It is a perfect piece for any black tie event - I loved it. Note the faceted hands that are diamond cut, and the clever use of black and white on the dial. A bit retro in style? Maybe, but I've never seen anything like it before. The image here shows just a bit of how the dial sparkles - not overwhelmingly so, but there is certainly a degree of dancing with the light. You'll have to find these in one of the few Dunhill boutiques around the world, but if you like it, the inquiry seems worth making.

Canadian Mist Black Diamond Rye Whisky

Lovers of rye whisky take note: Canadian Mist is set to march on the United States with a new premium expression. Called Black Diamond, the special Canadian Mist was created in response to customers who liked the existing rye, but wanted something a little more special for special occasions.

Like the regular Canadian Mist, the Black Diamond is distilled in Ontario using water from the Georgian Bay, North America's largest pure water source. Black Diamond upgrades with an increased sherry flavor and a higher rye content, bottled at 86 proof, and will launch in six states this month before being rolled out coast to coast early next year. Suggested retail price for a 750ml bottle comes in at an entirely reasonable $14.99.

Black Diamond Ski Package Features Black Diamonds

I've seen plenty of diamonds dropped into cocktails but this is the first time I've seen it package with a ski package. Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort's black diamond ski package includes seven nights of lodging in a three-bedroom, three-bathroom suite, six day lift tickets for two kids and two adults, lessons, equipment rentals, a spa package, $1,225 in dining and food credits and a $10,000 black diamond necklace. It sells for $26,653. The package celebrates the addition of more expert, black diamond terrain to the resort and is designed to also attract attention to the $55 million Village at Northstar project. The black diamond necklace is being provided by one of the stores in the village.
