The New Plans For Rancharrah

Last year, Jared Paul Stern reported that Rancharrah, the legendary 147-acre estate of casino king Bill Harrah in Reno, Nevada was on the market for $75 million. The home didn't sell and now there are new plans for the property that are angering some locals.
Reno officials have been asked to consider zoning changes for the range that would eliminate residential use and instead allow for office, hotel and retail uses. The ranch house would also be used for weddings and other special events and the indoor arena and stables would be turned into a commercial operation. The home is currently owned by Bill Harrah's son John who bought the home from the family trust in 1991. He built a new ranch house and developed the estate's equestrian facilities.
