Wolfgang Puck Creates First London Restaurant

Wolfgang Puck, is known for being the king of California cuisine but the Austrian chef famous for restaurants like Sago and Cut is taking his food to a new restaurant in London. The latest version of Cut (a Luxist Awards' Readers Choice Nominee), Puck's lavishly modern twist on the steakhouse category, will on the ground floor of the Dorchester Collection's new 45 Park Lane hotel. Bloomberg News reports that the menu will be based on Cut in the Beverly Wilshire. Puck is also opening a Cut in Singapore and there is already a Las Vegas location. The London venue will open next year.

Although Puck has restaurants scattered around the U.S., branded Wolfang Puck Express locations in many airports and several food lines he has never done a restaurant in London or New York. He will operate the London Cut rather than own it. The head chef in London will be David McIntyre, who helped open Spago and Cut in Beverly Hills before starting his own restaurant in San Diego.

The restaurant's name is a double entendre that relates to both the delectable strip steaks as well as its seductive, yet sophisticated decor. The interior was designed by David Rockwell and offers a clubby yet striking atmosphere with deep red leather booths. The walls are adorned with black and white images of women that pays homage to the female form. The collection was photographed by Studio Manasse in Vienna in the early 1900's.

Peter Luger has two locations in the greater New York City area: the original, which is located in Brooklyn while the other is on Long Island in Great Neck. Hours of operation are from 11:45 am to 9:45 pm (last seating) Monday through Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, the last seating is at 10:45 pm and on Sunday, seating is available from 12:45 pm to 9:45 pm. Banquet facilities are available for up to 45 people. The esteemed steakhouse entered the cyberworld of online meat purveying with the launch of PeterLuger.com. The website was a nominee for a Luxist Awards' Readers' Choice Award for Best Online Meat Company in July.

was founded in 1965 in Baltimore, Md. by famed restaurateur Buzz Beler and his brother, Nick. The restaurant was designed to evoke the elegant supper clubs of 1940's Manhattan.

The restaurant is a throw-back to the good old days with its tuxedoed waitstaff, live music nightly, and convivial and romantic atmosphere. The restaurant, which is beautifully decorated with fine art and fresh flowers, is famous for its thick chops, fresh seafood and the plethora of delicious side dishes from which to choose. Its wine list is equally as extensive.

A nominee for a Luxist Readers' Choice Award for Best Steakhouse, The Prime Rib opened its second location in 1976 in Washington, D.C. The restaurant has become a power meeting spot for the who's who of Washington elite. The restaurant's third location was opened in Philadelphia in the city's historic Warwick Hotel in 1997.
