Brazilian Pop Artist Romero Britto paints unique Bentley Continental GT

Filed under: Wheels, Auctions, Art, Charity

Few things manage to demonstrate the difference between cultures as art. Take for example this Bentley Continental GT, donated to the hand of Brazilian pop artist Romero Britto. It may look good to some, and to others an absolute atrocity. Yet Britto's credentials as a renowned artist are known the world over, his works hanging in galleries, museums and prestigious private collections all around the world.

This Bentley will be part of Britto's upcoming exhibit at the Automobil Forum Unter den Linden in Germany from July 10 to September 6, after which it will be auctioned off to benefit multiple sclerosis research and the social integration of the mentally disabled.

2008 Bentley Continental GT Speed: Because the Original Wasn't Enough

Sure, it doesn't do a whole lot that the original Bentley Continental GT couldn't do. It's only a few tenths of a second faster from 0-60 mph (4.3 seconds vs. the original's 4.6) and goes only four miles per hour faster than the original GT... but those four seconds make all the difference in the world.

The 2008 Bentley Continental GT Speed goes 202 mph vs. the original car's198, but that puts the Bentley, finally, in the exclusive 200 mph club. Now, the Continental GT can sit among the Ferraris and Ford GTs of the world, and rightfully so.

The other perks GT Speed drivers will enjoy are 20-inch wheels, a low-slung suspension and tinted windows, not to mention the ability to order custom paint and trim.

Sure, it's hard to outdo the original, but why not go all out?

Porsche 911 Turbo Spied Topless

As Porsche hits its stride amid one of its most important roll-outs of late -- that of the classic Porsche 911 Turbo -- UK-based Car Magazine has snapped some shots of the drop-top version of the car a week before the automaker releases its official shots.

These spy photos aren't the first of their kind, what with Brenda Priddy's cunning shooters catching the cabrio in Sweden last March, but we'll take whatever we can get -- we've been waiting over a year for the topless version of the new 911 Turbo since the launch of its coupe sibling at the Geneva Motor Show in March of 2006.

We expect about the same performance despite the altered weight distribution -- a likely 3.7-4 seconds from 0 to 60 depending on whether the beaut is decked out with the manual or DSG "Tiptronic" transmission, and a top speed just shy of the hard top's 192 mph.

The result is one of the fastest convertibles on the market, equally at home on the Autobahn or in Beverly Hills.
