Jentle Ped Foot Spa

Are foot spas a new bathroom trend? The Detroit News covers new trends in bathrooms and found that those mega-sized two person whirlpool tubs aren't selling as much as they used to. One-person tubs and whirlpool footbaths are gaining ground. The Jentle Ped, shown here is a foot spa similar to the kind that you have probably enjoyed during a pedicure. The mini spa massages your calves and feet and sells for  $845 to $1,860.

Vipp Towels

I've mentioned Vipp's wastebaskets and toliet brushes before. The Danish company is famed for their simple enamel wastebaskets and toliet brushes which come in a rainbow of colors. Now the company has ventured into the textile market with a new line of Vipp towels. The towels come in small, medium and large and feature rubber tag for hanging. No bright colors here though. The towels, which will be available next month, only come in black, gray, white and cream.

Vipp is also taking over an exhibition room at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris from April 25 to May 2. Industrial designer  Mauricio Clavero will be teaming up with Swarovski, Sicis’ mosaic, B&O and Kvadratto create "an artistic luxury universe."  The exhibition will travel to luxury shops and design hotels in Europe until the end of 2006 and travel to America in 2007.

Maxim Home Furnishings

What's going on with Macy's? First Martha Stewart and now I learn that they also sell Maxim-branded bedding. It turns out that Maxim has a whole line of furnishings from rather generic-looking barware to guy-approved spare-and-bare TV stands.  Is the Maxim name alone enough to sell this stuff? The company provides plenty of saucy copy. For the bed set shown here they say: "Add this casual coolness to your master bedroom and who knows? Maybe next time you roll out of bed you'll have company."  Note the artfully strewn Maxim magazines on the floor (open to pictures of girls in bikinis) and the guitar resting by the bedside. Feeling studly yet? Buy the $200 set at Macy's and they'll throw in a year's subscription to the magazine.
